2010 Nissan GT-R No Longer with Launch Control

Too bad, but if Ferrari doesn't offer LC here, NISSAN better not either. Too many stupid draghead.

Europe is allowed to make unreliable POS, but the japanese and americans are not, that's how things work here. I can't imagine the fallout if Toyota and Hondas decided not to benchmarks themselves?

I laughed out loud at this one. I think it's pathetic. A 24k GTI can have LC but this "supercar" can't handle it

In true respect...the GTR is still a beast to contend with...The software that regulated the hill assist and the VDC is simply rerouted so that DUMB GTR owners who want to ragged out their cars then blame the manufacturer b/c they cant afford to fix it.Now wont be an option.

Well, it works both ways. For those who think the GT-R is itself has been sensationalized the same could be said of any negative press that is viewed by some as total failure and reason to start dancing in circles.

But it's an announcement of a design change. It's not as if there was no disclosure about the use of LC with VDC off. It's made more than clear in the manual.

Whether it is a design flaw or Nissan not knowing the consequences of making the feature available is up for debate. But if you want LC then you've got one more year to get it. But chances are that by 2010 Nissan will make some other adjustments so that the performance will not suffer without it.

I saw this coming. With that weight and LC there was no way the tranny had a chance. Too bad stronger materials would cost too much.

It's unfortunate that the GT-R will be offered without the LC. However, since most of the GT-R's I see in the city they are either driven in the city or parked along a curb it shouldn't matter much. Even if it shortfalls the slightly "slower" and the same 0-60 as the 911 Turbo, it's not like the Porsche is slow. It's still one of the fastest cars on the road today and demands respect. That's why in many regards the turbo is compared to the F430 and Gallardo. Arrogance and badgewhores aside the 911 Turbo is in my opinion side by side with competition from Lamborghini and Ferrari. It's unfortunate how people have viewed Porsche as a lesser brand but with the CGT as proof they are a capable of making a real expensive hyper car, they still decide to not step out of their iconic 911 and remain true to heritage.

It would be nice to see Nissan offer a true manual gear box to see how it does with proper manual gear changes and if any performance would be compromised. Anyways, I don't think the GT-R will be hurt much without the LC. It's still a quick car, whether its 3.3 or 3.9 or 4.0 it's still very fast. Don't let the figures dilute your vision of a GT-R.

that is disappointing to hear but from a business aspect it makes perfect sense... what they SHOULD do is include LC on the GT-R Spec V (while boosting the tranny/driveline/diff quality to handle the added HP and charge a premium). You get what you pay for. It CAN be done but will cost more. And there are people out their who want and can afford it. The GT-R (w/o LC) will be great (and reliable) while the GT-R Spec V will be amazing (reliable/"more expensive" but still "relatively" inexpensive).

NO..the car is 100% japanese and handbuilt at that.Now they did let Lotus design the underpinning but it still ride on an Advance FM platform that nissan has perfected.

They don't need it.The car is quick enough without it.I'd rather have the car still being produced then having continued warranty issues. It is not worth it.In this economy it far more cost effective to just delete it.
