Nissan is planning a new hot hatch version of the Micra with a turbo and supercharged engine.

This type of setup has been seen on the Volkswagen Golf TSI twin-charger concept with now Nissan adopting the idea. The newly developed 1.0L three cylinder petrol powerplant is said to deliver high performance as well as low emissions and great fuel economy.

The completely redesigned next generation Micra is due in 2010 with power figures expected at approximately 140bhp at 6000rpm; and will deliver an incredible 56mpg and 120g/km of CO2 with the help of a standard five-speed manual...
