When the fresh Prius is officially introduced at the Detroit Auto Show next month, its inside will highlight important utilization of so-called “ecological plastics”.

These are polymer materials take from biomass oils instead than petroleum.

It's a minor improvement over the current Prius. I know all of the "green" people will give birth to a cow at this, but why can't they make the Prius somewhat attractive?

The biggest thing would be cost and the other they are focusing function over form. I bet anymore than what it looks now would create more drag or bring up costs.

agreed. it isnt a coincidence that the honda insight has the prius cheese wedge shape. even after honda made all those commercials about how a hybrid doesnt have to have the wedge shape, they still make a vehicle that follows that form.

it produces the lowest drag.

it will be interesting to see what lexus does with the HS250h. im sure all the hollywood celebs will end up with the HS

That's great. All platic should be biodegradable ecological plastic. Our grand kids will spit on our graves because we made this toxic garbage for generations that will sit in landfills for ever.

i've always liked the prius 'commercial' (on pbs) showing the outline of the car built from NATURAL materials. then completely dissolving into the environment.

capsulizes the prius' goal of ultimately leaving NO footprints.

Why not just make the car out of bamboo! It's biodegradeable, a fast-growing sustainable resource, easily fabricated into whatever shapes are desired.

Fiberous materials frey over time. Also the chemicals needed to treat the wood and to retain an interior shaped would be too dangerous inhaling it in an enclosed cabin. Plus bamboo would skyrocket with the mass demand.
