That the 2013 Cadillac ATS exists at all is a profound statement about the American brand's obsession with beating the Germans at their own game.

That the ATS exists with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine and a six-speed manual transmission also should be enough to make old Henry Leland — Cadillac's founding father — turn cartwheels in his burial plot at Woodmere Cemetery in Detroit.

Or, maybe not.

By the time of Leland's death in 1932, Cadillac had moved on from its original single-cylinder buggy with a tonneau roof and had begun mass production of a road-crushing 90-mph thunder sedan powered by a V16 and featuring a pioneering three-speed manual transmission.

Where does GM find these things? It's about 500 milliseconds from a Hyundai Genesis crate engine.
They kind of did some mods of their own, didn't want anyone to think it was a Hyundai.
-Valve Cover GM branding. Air filter branding optional.
-nearly 274 hp @ 6,000 rpm;
-close to 275 ft lb of torque @ 2,000 rpm
-far less than 100000 mile warranty (the rest of the car won't get that far, gotta dial it down a bit for the shareholders)
-significantly higher price, to keep the exec-bonus-hoarders happy

Exactly, notice how other companies with 100,000 mile warranty are 7 years, while GM is only 5 years? Because that number 100,000 gives that false sense of security and they don't pay attention to the 5 year part. How many people drive 100,000 miles in 5 years. They figure that people will trade it in in 5 years or less, that way the second hand buyer will have no warranty and have to pay out the @$$ to get it fixed.
