The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety confirmed the new generation Lexus GS is indeed a Top Safety Pick. This safety award is the American equivalent of EuroNCAP 5-star rating, and that in layman’s terms means the GS is as safe as cars in this segment currently get. The GS scored ‘Good’ which the highest score possible, in each of the tests.

The handsome new GS showed good performance in front, side, rollover, and rear tests and standard electronic stability control. It is hardly surprising, both because Lexus is known to make some of the safest cars in the industry, and because of the car’s list of safety features. Take a look at this:

Side airbags: front and rear head curtain airbags and front and rear seat-mounted torso airbags
Driver and front passenger knee airbags: separate airbags in the lower instrument panel designed to minimize knee injuries in frontal crashes
Electronic stability control
Antilock brakes
Daytime running lights
Lane departure warning and prevention system (optional)
