$30k not likely for Chevy Volt with out tax credits
This Volt pricing topic is getting a bit annoying now. Just last week Forbes reported that GM CEO Rick Wagoner said that the Volt could cost less than $30,000 when it hits the market in 2010. Sources are now saying that they still expect pricing to be around $40,000 unless Congress helps out with tax credits.

GM is current lobbying Congress to create tax credits that benefit ‘extended-range electric vehicles.

“We need to make sure the legislative language does include extended-range electric vehicles,” said GM spokesman Greg Martin.

GM is on crack for asking more than $6,999+ in tax incentives.

Dont be so sure of that. Maybe they are just high-balling it.

$7,000 in tax incentives is nothing for congress to spend. Especially for such a limited edition vehicle. California legislature gave breaks for the Prius and this is just a drop in the bucket compared to what congress is currently subsidizing for E85.

I could very well believe this car could give you a refund.

Remember congress does stupid things and wastes money all the time. Remember a few years back when doctors and lawyers were buying Hummers because their gross weight qualified them as comercial vehicles and said doctor and lawyer were able to deduct the entire cost the first year.

Tell me that was a brilliant legislative idea.

How well GM can sell Volt depends on the gas price when it eventually comes out...
