500HP Range Rover Sport spy images
Earlier today we saw images of a prototype Discovery 3 SUV fitted with Land Rover’s new 5.0L V8 engine.

Now we have images of the 2009 facelifted Range Rover Sport, which is rumored to be packing a supercharged version of the new V8 developing upwards of 500hp and 650Nm of torque.

The facelifted SUV is due to hit the streets at the end of this year and is likely to be available with a 3.6L twin turbo diesel V8 as well as the new V8 mill.

I know the Q7 4.2 TDI does 0-62 in 6.4 secs and returned over 21 mpg
With just 326 hp

Just How Heavy is this Range Sport ?

^^ ^^
I'm not sure if I detect sarcasm or not but if so it's misplaced...6.5sec is probably a conservative figure as the current Range Sport has run it in as low as 6.8sec, I'd expect around the 6.0sec mark which would be a nice improvement.

However competitively speaking, I guess your sarcasm (If it was intended) is well placed as 6.5sec to 60MPH & 10MPG is terrible.

It's not sarcasm. The RRS-S is no faster than a Toyota Highlander V6. Not to mention its crappy interior. This car is so inferior to the real Range Rover.

"This car is so inferior to the real Range Rover."

It REALLY is. But for some reason people don't see that. I personally hate the current interior. And the supercharged engine is not worth the premium over the regular RR Sport.

I think the RRS has Infiniti-interior syndrome...looks great, nice clean design, yet the materials fall short of the quality expected.

The outside is one of the coolest looking cars on the road, however.

My 'infiniti materials" have held up quite nicely.

Hey I was NOT dissing Infinitis, I love them. They are built well, its the actual quality of the materials (which is also where the save some production costs).

6.5 0-60 is pathetic for 500hp. My 02 grand Cherokee overland did 6.9 0-60 with only 265hp before mods. after exhaust, chip and intake i got 6.7 @ around 300 hp

I don't remember the mpg because the gas was cheap back then and did not really matter.

(S4) I totally agree with all your points, however IMO the Range Rover is inferior to the Range sport in terms of exterior design, I just love the sleekness of the RRS's roof. Then again the Range no doubt looks its paid premium over the Range Sport.

i think both the range rover and range rover sport are gorgeous. I wish they were built better and performed better to justify the price.

Why can't they just make a two door range rover, like the old 2-door county. That would be a great "sport" model in their line up and what they are missing.

This thing is a such a pig, it's a disgrace to Britain. And the interior sucks, and it's tiny on the inside, and it's slow for something so powerful. Our 10 year old 7 series with about 280 hp (the 4.4) does 0-60 quicker than this, and is roomier and has a nicer interior. I hate the RRS. Like many people said, even non-premium cars beat it.
