504 HP Tundra - Official TRD Supercharger Specs
We officially have price and performance specs on the TRD supercharger for the Tundra 5.7 V8.

The supercharger will produce 504 HP and 550 lb-ft of torque.

The list price for the parts is $5,975, with installation expected to be about another $900. Dealer cost on the parts is about $5000 even.

Toyota will warranty any Tundra with the TRD supercharger for either 12 months and 12k miles OR for the full length of the factory 5yr 60k mile power train warranty, whichever is greater - provided of course the supercharger is installed by a Toyota dealer.

The official release date is still up in the air, but it looks like it will be in the next week or so - June 16th is rumored to be the official release date.

I would not want to be the first customer to come into the Toyota TuRD warranty shop with a burned piston or a major engine failure of any other kind . The repair order will be stamped " claim denied " , They are pretty good at weaseling their way out of having money flowing out the door according to past practices . Please pay at the cashier

I agree with Lemonade, toolate your full of it. If Toyota is making it, and installed by the dealer, you won't have any issues !!

When I worked for Toyota/Scion, I had a customer with a TC and the TRD supercharger installed on his car. Had an issue, called me thinking her was screwed, and two days later, he's returning in his loaner car to pick his up. No charge Thank You Very Much !!!!

Toyota isn't like the domestics where I've had to bring in a printed copy of a TSB to get it fit. Without it, they were like, I don't know nothing.....

AMiodynski,
So your customer had a sex change between when the car was brought in and when it was picked back up? That seems odd.

How you can tell someone is pretending they have money:

They think rich people are supposed to have this careless attitude towards money. How do you think you get rich in the first place? By throwing it away every chance you get?

Exactly - the richest guy I know (and he is very very rich) has a GL320cdi - the GL550 is too heavy on petrol (but it is about 9 dollars a gallon here).

yet the germ fanboys say that the rich people who buy rolls, bentleys, astons, etc. dont care about the mileage, its all about the status. and they say that people who buy LS600h's arent real rich guys, cause rich people dont care about money.

sooo, whats all this about stingy, thrifty rich people?

"DIFFERENT STROKES FOR DIFFERENT FOLKS"

Toyota (just like any other US Auto company) wants to make sure they have a product for someone who wants to drive a supercharged V8 truck... Or someone who wants drive a Hybrid or what not. They know that there aren't too many people out there who are in the market for a supercharged V8 otherwise they would mass produce it.

joesviper:

should I view the Europeans to be "stupid" for making all these high performance cars that burn up a lot of gas?

I do not understand ?

Why is there no one writing an article stating how stupid Toyota is for producing this useless 500HP+ truck.

Seriously, they will bash Chrysler for The Challenger even though most of those vehicles will probably end up with a V6.

God forbid any critize the almighty Toyota on this site !

TRD Superchargers don't break - I have one in one of my faster-than-your-car stickV6 Camry's. This Tundra TRD thing is just an answer for Lightning or SVT F-150, or Silverado SS.

What an incredibly lame idea. 6 grand is typically the cost to upgrade to a diesel engine in a full size truck. Diesels get WAAY more torque (all the new big diesel trucks are getting 650+ ft lbs stock) and waaay higher MPG then this supercharged gasser could dream of. I drive a full size gas truck and I would never dream of doing anything like that to my engine. it would guarantee I never saw anything more than single digit MPG readings while putting way more strain on the transmission than it's built for. What an ingenious way to waste money. MAKE A DAMN DIESEL ALREADY TOYOTA!!

Good point on the higher torque for the diesel, utahnkid kid , the additional torque comes in at a much lower RPM also, where you can use it .I can't imangine 600+ lbs of torque going through that little sand cast aluminum differential that Toyota uses under a constant load

And the horrible sound - u won't be able to hear the iPod adapted system over a diesel. This thing has pure big block sound.

utahnkid: " MAKE A DAMN DIESEL ALREADY TOYOTA!!"

Toyota has been making diesels for years, they're all over Europe.

This Supercharger from Toyota "RACING" Developement was mainly developed for speed, otherwise they would have Toyota "TOWING" Developement (yes I'm being sarcastic) build them a diesel.

Obviously I meant make a diesel Tundra available in the US. I couldn't care less what they offer in Europe.

Hey utahnkid!.. Yeah! the guy who talks to himself.. yeah YOU!!!!

Unfortunately the world doesn't evolve entirely around the US.. So, stupid comments like " MAKE (A) DAMN DIESEL ALREADY TOYOTA!!" would get such reactions.

So you added the () around the A because...

And call me crazy but I tend to care a tad more about cars that are actually available in my continent. Not that they're any more important, just a little bit more relevant.

For the slow folks that can't connect the dots and realize I meant a diesel specifically for the Tundra in a thread of comments already about the Tundra:

MAKE A DAMN DIESEL TUNDRA ALREADY TOYOTA!!

I'll keep you in mind and be as specific as humanly possible next time I post, Lemonade.

I own a black F150, loaded.

But if I wanted a fast truck, I'd get the GMC Sierra Denali. That truck is simply beautiful black on black with that Billet grill. 400 + hp is enough for me.

How many people do you think will actually get this package? Construction workers won't and neither will someone running a business (unless its a pimp my ride kind of business).

This is probably just so a potential customer says "I could if I wanted". From the sounds of it, Toyota won't make much money off of it if the parts cost $5000.

Lyall,
Just like Germans are flooding the market with oldschool diesels as diesel approaches $5.50 a gallon.

But yeah, along with their planned V8 diesel, this is pointless.

Impressive power! Although this is still less HP than PML's mini cooper's hybrid with 640 HP ! And it is easily 3X better on gas than a Preus. Now that exites me with gas being so much money. This Toyota is 10 years behind, it should be like the pml hybrid.
