530HP Porsche GT2 arriving in November
One of Porsche’s most eagerly anticipated models is expected to arrive by the end of this year. The potent 911 GT2, which has been caught by spy photographers for the past 12 months, is set to hit showrooms in November packing a 530hp twin-turbo flat six. An inside source has revealed to Germany’s Automobilwoche that the GT2 will come as a strict two-seater with RWD and supercar rivaling performance.

The heavier and less powerful 911 Turbo already puts many supercars to shame, and the GT2 will definitely improve on the performance of its lesser 997-based cousin. Acceleration from 0-100km/h will take just 3.7 seconds with a top speed in excess of 320km/h.

But this is nothing new we hear you say. The source also reports that the car picks up a light-weight titanium exhaust system, which helps bring down the coupe’s kerb weight to around 1,400kg (the 996 GT2 weighed in at 1,420kg).

Question: (and this is not meant to be modded down, I'm looking for some serious discourse here)

What is the difference between the GT2 and GT3? And, if we're going strictly in terms of numbers does the GT2 put out much more horsepower that the GT3? It looks like the GT2 is the better of the two.

The GT2 puts out 115 more power than the GT3. They almost HAVE to put out a GT2 just for raw hp numbers. Especially since Chevrolet is about to have 500+ in the standard Vette. 415 is probably about all you're going to get out of the normally aspirated 3.6.

Better is subjective.

Basically the GT3 is racing version of the normally-aspirated Carrera; the GT2 is a RWD racing version of the Turbo.

I'll take the more comfortable 911 Turbo any time even though I prefer superchargers over turbos. I am concerned that going to extremes to reduce weight will even eliminate some or all of the soundproofing and one ends up driving an uncomfortable noisy rocket. The incremental performance gains over the 911 Turbo are not worth the money or trade-offs in my opinion.

At the track it is!!!
The GT2 is pretty much a track car for street use.
It's lighter than the 911 Turbo and more raw as it is only RWD.

Anything faster than a Porsche 911 turbo is just bragging rights when . of a second really makes a difference.

I think Porsche 911 Turbo is in supercar territory. The styling may not be as wild and it may not sound as loud but it definitely is in the supercar price range but obviously a little cheaper. This car is a competitor against the F430 and Gallardo IMO.

It's just Porsche is so understated compared to the Lamborghini's, Ferrari's, and even Aston's that people view them as a less exotic brand. Don't for one second think Porsche doesn't mean business. It is a lot of car packed into their engineering. Also don't forget where their engine is mounted and what size motors their using.
