600-HP Dodge Viper
New information on Dodge’s new trick under the hood has surfaced ahead of time. The better than before Viper SRT-10 for 2008, which boasts an extra 90 horsepowers under the hood, making the total power a fabulous 600hp. The new V10 will upgrade from 8.3-Liters to 8.4 with some tweaking here and there, all controlled by a new 6-speed TR6060 gearbox for a higher torque capacity.

If you guys have seen the Top Gear SRT10 review, the car performed great in a straight line but on the turns the chasis suspension wasn't up to par. I hope this new and improved model has been well thought out so it can go head to head against the supercars from Europe. However keep in mind that the way they drive the cars in reviews/car shows the average person who buys an exotic probably will not torture their car like that.

Agent63, I hadn't seen the Top Gear review, but what can you expect for a Dodge --- its a purpose built car and they STILL can't get it right! I wouldn't buy it if it had 1000hp.

This car has been enhanced in every way. (Read the tech improvements.) As the 2003 edition was the "beta" version for the latest Viper, advancements can be made based on what was learned and what is needed to improve everything about the car, not just power either. SRT and AMG (from parent company MB) have been known to collaborate and some of the engineers have spent time in both plants. This is something not to be overlooked.

Question I have:

The article said "Eight exterior colors will be introduced throughout the model year - five of which are all-new including Venom Red, Snakeskin Green, Viper Violet, Viper Orange and Bright Blue."

I like the appearance of the hue I see on the roadster (at least on this particular page), but I cannot ascertain which of the new hues this actually is. The color looks like a maroon hue to me - perhaps a dark burnt amber or something. Could it be "Venom Red"? Seems to me that the coupe shown beneath it is that color. One is much more red than the other. Could it be violet? (Sure doesn't look orange.)

I need to get more pics. If that violet is the maroonish color I'm seeing, this car should be visually stunning as well as quite the performer. As the parenting of MB continues to improve Chrysler, this Viper will surely benefit as well.

I wouldn't say collaborating with AMG is a huge plus for Dodge...AMG cars have great engines but still are far behind BMW's M series.

Harmonizing between SVT and AMG would indeed be a "huge plus for Dodge. Viper quality has really left something to be desired from the onset. Since the MB/DC assimilation, Viper quality has been lifted and this 2008 model will reveal this more than ever. And with regard to AMG being "far behind" BMW's performance division, this is more preference-oriented speculation than established fact. And either way, *if* AMG trails M, this is irrelevant as to whether AMG has made good influence upon SVT, which it clearly has.
