Stunning car! But for $220k I have no idea why anyone would buy this over the competition.

The competition being the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera, Porsche GT2 and some form of Ferrari, I guess.

But yea, we've seen this car before, a loooong time ago!

I remember the acceleration time being anything but phenomenal. Lo-and-behold it is... 4.4 seconds? Oh yea, that's because this ride weighs over 3600 lbs.

Sweet car, but who would pay that much for a 3er?

This falls under: "Why? Because they can." and frankly I love it. Yes the price is exorbitant, yes you could probably tune a 335i to be faster. But seriously... this is there because they proved they could do it.

Yes. Very cost-effective!

oh yes!!!! That's amazing that the weight distribution has only changed to 52/48. This would be amazing to drive. I'd die in less than a week if i owned this car.

For less than $220K, get a Porsche 911GT2 that will smoke this thing.

Not only is it faster, better looking but it's a PORSCHE

Holy crap...didn't see that coming. Impressive, but a little expensive next to the competition

If it was half the price, it would be marketable.

But terribly unprofitable, and that is all BMW cares about, after all. I mean, why would they be making an X3, X4, X5, X6 and X7?

Yeah, because no car company cares about making a profit...

BMW may need this to keep up with the 1000HP IS-F with jet boost and lane levitation system.

You know as well as everyone else that both the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG and Audi RS4 are keeping BMW up at night. The new M3, by some accounts, just isn't all that impressive. I'll take a 335i, give it a Vishnu kit and keep the rest of the cash I saved for my retirement fund, LOL.

the M3 needs the CSL to compete with the RS4

Styling is still the most controversial aspect of the current BMW lineup, and while Chris Bangle's flame-surface effect has grown on us, there aren't many professing love for the hard edges and odd angles. The last-generation E46 was such a perfectly proportioned machine that the design team could only go wrong from there. And they did.

The new 3 is so much better-looking than the old one (read:coupe)! The E92 makes the E46 look terribly outdated. It is actually Bangle's best work yet.
