A Bold and Bright Future for Car Colors
The color of your next car may come from the makeup counter. Bolder colors and glitzy paint finishes are on the rise in the auto market and promise to offset staid shades of black, gray, silver and white that persistently dominate the roads.

Color trends that affect every conceivable consumable — cars, purses, shoes, cell phones, lamps, linens, wallpaper — can often be traced back to only a handful of hue gurus. Bold colors are great but Volvo and Mercedes will probably continue to apply blackmail marketing techniques to force consumers to pay extra for the color they want. Mercedes is particularly nasty about this by taking advantage of the poor by charging extra for decent paint only on the C-Class.

Mercedes? Take advantage of the poor? Who next? Brooks Brothers? Neiman Marcus? Burberry?

Golly now, let's see; cheapest Mercedes MSRP before tax and dealer rip-off mark-ups (prep/doc fees, etc) is $30475. Who are these poor to whom you refer? Those at the Republican National Convention who had to take--gasp--commercial airline flights to get there?

You must have gotten taken. MB charges $680 for their metallic paints. There are several colors that mb offers that are non metallic that are no additional charge.

Because some people prefer a Mercedes and don't want a Lexus (and vice versa)? Ever thought about that, kid?
