A Final Tribute: Paul Newman Takes His Last Lap Around Lime Rock
Lime Rock Park was closed down for an hour and half today to honor Paul Newman. He was attended by his family, close friends, Skip Barber, mechanics on his race team, and those who happened to be at the track.

Newman  toured the track in his Corvette race car with his Buick V8 powered Volvo station wagon
following. He had come to say goodbye.

Diagnosed  with terminal cancer he is not expected to live beyond September. Race driver, actor, humanitarian, family man and friend, they did not come any better."

Newman the award winning actor ends a four-decade long involvement in motorsports. He has a second place finish at the 24 hours of Le Mans to his credit, and won a class victory at the 1995 Daytona 24 hours at the age of 74.

Outside of the racing and acting spotlights Newman has also raised well over $200 million for charities through the sale of his Newman brand of foods.

Very sad, but he is going out the right way doing some laps at Lime Rock. His "Newman's Own" brand has done great things for charity.

I met Mr. Newman at a bar in Westport one day. I asked him for an autograph, not pushy just casually. He said he didn't do autographs but said he would buy me a beer. It was the best beer I ever had.

I will miss him when he is gone, great actor!!!

Slapshot was one of the funniest movies of all time.

Mr.Newman is a class act in everyway and a perfect example for alot of the other Narcissistic celebrities should be like in life. Plus, an awesome actor and race car driver. And, no doctor should ever tell someone (and no one should listen to them) how long they have to live, that is determined by someones will and spirit. There has been many examples of power hungry doctors telling someone how long they have to live and the person lives far beyond that some 20-30 years!
