I hooked up my accelerator to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.

A Poor man’s Audi A5: VW four-door coupe coming in May 2008
As we’ve reported before, Volkswagen is working with sister brand Audi on a new four-door coupe, internally known as the CC or I/O 511. According to Automobilvoche, Volkswagen is set to release the new four-door coupe in the middle of May 2008 with a pricing strategy that will avoid for the car to be positioned to close to the Audi A5. In other words, a poor man’s Audi A5.

The entry level model will be powered by a 1.8 TSI engine producing 160 horsepower and is priced at 30,000 euros. The 2.0 liter turbodiesel with Common Rail technology will produce 140 horsepower with pricing set at 32,000 euros. The range topper will be powered by a V6 FSI with all-wheel-drive producing...

Good price, under 30000 pounds for an AWD V6.

Why Does Audi and VW offer weak engines on anything but thier most expensive (over $55K) vehicles? I like Audi and VW But they are charging a premium for cars that are under-powered.

Poor mans audi my ass. The thing about audi/vw is that all the entry models get all the aftermarket products so before you know it they are flying by the high end models on the highway. Look at the current A4 if you get the 1.8 or the 2.0 whatever its called with an aftermarket twinturbo you can make it faster than the s4 with cash left over. The fact is the ony reason to get a "S" is if you want the speed with a nice ride.

The V6 cost $40,000 euros, that like $55K dollars, with that money you can get a BMW 5 Series, A6 or Lexus GS model instead.

Don't compare prices directly, inflation and exchange rates mean prices are hugely different.
ie Lexus LS starts at over 100000 dollars in Europe, IS at 50000, a 335i coupe is about 65000 and a Bentley Continental GT is over 220000 dollars.

You are right, you could get an A6, but not a GS, as you could only get the A6 2.4/2.0 for that money. Cheapest GS (300) is 60000 dollars plus), but for a medium size coupe with a V6 and AWD and a VW badge, it's a good price.

Rupert, wow, I honest did Not know it cost that much in Europe? that is crazy. I was just curious why does cost more in Europe?. I figure if it was made and manufactured in Europe and sales in Eurpe it would be cheaper because no shipping needed.

For starters we include tax (17.5% in Britain), and in America cars are just cheaper because of the weak dollar yet low inflation, so automakers make little money in the US (hence why Audi hasn't really bothered in the US, too little profit). We're used to high prices in Europe anyway.
If the dollar was stronger, then in perspective automakers would make more money in America and cars in Europe would be cheaper to you. ie that GS300 would be 54000 dollars in Britain if the pound was worth $1.80. If it was worth $1.50, the GS300 would only be $45000 in Britain, but the price of 30000 pounds would not have change.

Clearly you haven't driven an Audi or VW in the last 5 years, have you?
