A Sneek Peek at The 2008 Cadillac CTS
Ed Welburn, GM Vice President, Global Design (left) and Bob Lutz, GM Vice Chairman, Global Product Development, provide a sneak peek of the all-new 2008 Cadillac CTS, which will be fully revealed at Detroit’s North American International Auto Show in January. The performance luxury sedan is scheduled to begin production in late-summer of 2007, with worldwide sales to follow in the fall.

Cadillac’s first-generation CTS built a strong record of success on many levels since its inception in 2002. Cadillac sold more than 60,000 copies in the U.S. in 2005, compared to roughly 38,000 in 2002, an increase of more than 50% over that period. There are roughly 275,000 CTS owners worldwide, and industry researchers say they are among the most satisfied in the automotive market. AutoPacific rated CTS as the top Entry Luxury Car in its annual Vehicle Satisfaction Awards in 2006.

It's got a crease in the bumper, it doesnt have audi's trapezoid chrome trim around the whole thing...I always thought the big gray audi grille makes the car look like it has some stuble that needs shaving, like a goatee or a uh...maybe some of you catch my drift...anyway I agree caddy pulled it off way better than Audi does, even if they started that particular trend.

Neon lights?? Dude..those's aren't neon..if anything they use LED's or eletroluminance panels for any particular type of background lighting. Have you seen the interior?? I would suggest sitting in the new 08 before making judgements about the interior is inferior to a Lexus. When you do that..and you feel the same way, then I'll respect that.

Chewy, I don't think you understand, who wants to follow Audi the 9th rated luxury brand in terms sales popularity and reputation in the USA. Audi makes its money on people making a $1.50 a day in china, stop embarrassing yourself with these stupid comments, Audi is group of losers, always has been always will be. At least Cadillac use to be great.

Too bad that BMW has used Audi front trapezoid grill in the 3 series, and this Cadillac has used the Audi trapezoid grill as well. I see many companies taking Audi's controversial grill and using it on their fronts. Don't worry, Audi will gain quickly here in the states.

Acura MDX front crease is starting to look like this design (similar angles). Looks nice - muscular! Hopefully the sides and rear aren't overlooked by the design department. Seems like no one car has a 10 out of 10 front/sides/rear.

BMW 3 = 10/10 sides/front - but ugly rear
Infiniti M = 10/10 rear - but ugly front and sides
Escalade = 10/10 front - but ugly rear and sides

2008 Audi TT seems like it has the whole design package front/sides/rear.

Why are you using such a small image? If you look at the high-resolution image, it looks like it has LED headlights and seems to be identical to what we saw in the 60 minutes screen caps.

Looks really good, should be a nice alternative to alot of cars out there for people who like that edgy style, i do. Only thing i'm not feeling right now is that diagonal crease going from the bottom of the top grill to the bottom of the car. But i'll make my judgement on that later.
The CTS has such a huge fan base i'm pretty sure it's gonna sell no matter what

For Lexus, its all about elegence in my opinion. Atleast for the time being it is. I think when they realize that you can make things go faster and look more racey and still have the excellent interior. They will be all over it. Just give it some time.

I think the new CTS will look more handsome than the current & outgoing model. It has the new design that resembles the new Escalade which IMO is a big hit for Cadillac. It looks a lot more luxurious than it's previous truck based interior aka cheapness. Now it's redone with better materials and it rides better. The new CTS should carry some of those traits along with traditional Cadillac luxury. It should sell quite well considering it is a domestic. People of all ages will like this new look. Who ever said Cadillacs are for old foggies? =p. IT should be interesting. The new CTS-V will look real muscular i'm assuming. Oh well, we'll have to wait for the final product to do final judgement.

So far I like it. The front end is a little low but overall it looks promising. Cadillac has done a great job improving its quality to compete with the luxury elite (lexus, mercedes, bmw, etc). If the quality is as good as or better than my father's '05 STS which has been relatively trouble free, I would have no problem replacing my '01 525i with the '08 CTS.!!

EL34,
1997 Honda Accord and Civic had the original trapezoid with the little kink in the middle (actually 5 sides).

Since then, the grill has been getting progressively larger, especially on the Acuras but not to the extent of VW/Chrysler/Cadillac.

chewy, you are so, unbelievably biased. What happened?

This looks really nice! I can't wait to see the rest- perhaps, like BMW, this is the "refinement" stage of their dramatic design revolution?

This car is a total wildcard. It might even outperform the 3 Series, but I'm not jumping to conclusions.

It's spelled "Sneak" Peek, not "Sneek".

The 2nd gen Escalade was the first Caddy I think to have the new grille, followed by the CTS.

Correct me if I'm wrong but that was probably late 90s or early 2000.
