Certainly a handsome beast, and the performance isn't bad either...

The price - Though one can only speculate, but... Whoa!

The funny part is, with Nissan's GT-R doing 0-60 in the 3.3 to 3.7 range, this vehicle suddenly seems far less impressive...

Especially for (what will surely be) substantially more money.

At this level of performance/engineering it's not unthinkable to compare something like a GT (GT-R) and an Estate (RS6).

To even state that, "Uh, this is a wagon, dude", gives the impression that you're actually under the impression that Audi created a 'wagon', "rumored to have 580 hp and 497 tq" to be regarded/used as a run-of-the-mill grocery getter, and on that matter - You're Way Off The Mark!

This is a SUPER CAR that Just Happens To Have Extra Cargo Capacity, and to believe otherwise is to admit nothing less than complete Automotive Incompetence.

DaHarder, you're wrong. It's not a supercar. It IS a super-fast grocery getter, in your words.

You just CAN'T compare it to the GT-R, so STOP! It weighs 700lbs more! Give it a rest!

It is still a very nice car and have impressive performance. But the Nissan GT-R has definitely omp up the performance level. The GT-R definitely has set up a new standard for performance car.

fastonekiller, I definitely agree with you on the later part. With 580hp and 497tq, this Audi should able to do 0-60 in 4.0s or lower.

Why on earth are people bringing up the GT-R after watching a video of the RS-6? I read the posts on this site from time to time and 99% of the post are a complete waste of time, and created for the sake of another moronic flame war. I hope most of the people posting are under the age of 10 (based on the quality of writing and the content).

Because vehicles of this ilk represent the pinnacle of performance for many enthusiast.

In these days of performance/horsepower wars, comparison are inevitable when a manufacturer introduces a high-performance new entry.

Where's the question in that?

Give who a break? People that can't stay on topic? I have been waiting for the GT-R for quite some time myself, and can't wait to get behind the wheel of one and given the opportunity to drive it in anger. But that does not change the fact that the RS-6 has nothing to do with the GT-R and all of you need to learn how to stay on topic. I am guessing in your life out side of this site you are the type of people who talk just to hear the words come out of your own mouth, you don't listen to what people have to say, you just wait for you own opportunity to add in your own 2 cents (and rarely does it add up to that).

So keep the RS-6 vs GT-R flame war coming, thankfully I can choose to not read anything you have to say.

RupertRupert - 12/19/2007 7:55:13 PMView My AgentSpace
0 BoostDrop the Boost Up the Boost
I don't think it's misguided - An M3 costs less than an M5, A C63 costs less than an E63, which costs less than an S63...the E may even be a little slower than the C but still people pay the money...it's a different car, and it's bigger, and people pay more.
The GT-R and RS6 are not in the same class, and should not be compared.
Surely I could say "Why buy a GT-R when you can buy a Lotus Exige, which handles better?"
The existence of the GT-R does not negate the RS6, as the Exige does not negate the GT-R's existence.
My logic is not faulty, your interpretation of what I said is. Bigger cars do cost more, within their pricing brakets...a GL costs more than an ML, right, or a Hummer costs more than a Trailblazer, right? They offer more space and practicality, at the expense of money and weight and performance. The RS-6 offers more space, more comfort, a better interior, more equipment, more power and a Lambo-derived engine and the expense of performance and weight.
The target buyers for these 2 cars are very, very different.

DaHarderDaHarder - 12/20/2007 2:03:42 AM
0 BoostDrop the Boost Up the Boost
And I Quote,

"This (RS6) is a SUPER CAR that Just Happens To Have Extra Cargo Capacity, and to believe otherwise is to admit nothing less than complete Automotive Incompetence"

It is not unreasonable to compare the performance figures of one performance vehicle to another in this case because No Regular 'Kid Toting/Grocery Getting' Wagon has In Excess of 550hp... NONE!

By your logic, I guess the C63 should not be compared to the M3 because one is a Sedan and one is a Coupe...

Correct?

Note: Let's All Brace Ourselves For The Inevitable BS Rhetoric To Follow...

Enough with the, lets compare EVERYTHING to a GT-R. This isn't a GT-R. A GT-R seats 4, kinda. This seats 5 comfortably, and it had a hatchback. So, that means weight is a factor. Not saying the GT-R is good, but stop comparing it to everything. And, yes, this thing will never see State side.

WHY ARE YOU COMPARING A 4,500LB WAGON TO THE GT-R???

WOW, that has NOTHING to do with this! I could understand it if this was an R8 video... but it isn't!

The RS6 SEDAN (under testing) has been informally recorded with a 0-60 time of 3.6 sec. And yes, it's coming to the US! So take your GT-R comparisons and shove them!

Bow down to the new fastest sedan and wagon in the world... priced appropriately.

High performance wagons/estates/shooting-brakes et al, especially in this price/performance range are simply not popular in the states.

1st: There is no need to call anyone an IDIOT!

I made one simple statement,

"The funny part is, with Nissan's GT-R doing 0-60 in the 3.3 to 3.7 range, this vehicle suddenly seems far less impressive... "

Which was typed simply to illustrate that in these times of extreme performance, 4.6 second 0 -60 times just don't seem as astounding as they once did.

Why jump on the bandwagon with these individuals who clearly have little more to do than sit at their computers passing judgment on what are little more than the OPINIONS of Others...

To Which We Are All Entitled!

Members like S4/Fastone (probably the SAME individual and untill proven otherwise ARE!) too often state their opinions as FACTS, when it others don't 'fall in line' with their posts, they go on these 'cyber-defamation' tirades, accusing said individual of things that are Completely Unrelated to what was originally posted.

Note: The Fastone character is the 'personality' most guilty of this, often resorting to belittling other forum members by calling them 'trailer trash', 'idiots' or accusing them of having small genitalia et al if he can't find any other means of 'forcing' the poster to 'side with them', or, of course, the 'defacto' creating multiple logins so as to ensure that liberal 'de-boosting' can be achieved - LOL!

It's all so pathetic really, exacerbated by the fact that the moderators do Absolutely Nothing about it, even though it often leads to topics becoming racists, sexists, homophobic and worse.

Before labeling anyone a 'TROLL, maybe you'd be best to check what had actually been conveyed, and NOT what others have lead you to conclude.

Hint: Think For Yourself!

Okay, well, that's Audi's time. I think you know by now that Audi severely underestimates 0-60 times. Look for 4 sec flat... for the AVANT.

3.5 for the sedan. That's a GT-R time.
