bighead, the all wheel drive 335xi coupe comes out 4th quarter 2007, so it doesn't always have to be sunny and dry...

"I want a car like this to make me part of the action rather than simply directing it. Instead it feels aloof, carrying out your instructions simply because it has to rather than because that is what it was created for."

So essentially, this is the Lexus of German sport-luxury coupes. (Kidding.)

The complaints about the stiff ride are exactly what people have noticed in Audis before, typically the sedans. It is really interesting to see this issue arise with this coupe, which ironically will be the basis of the next A4.

Speed and fun may not be mutually exclusive, but there is no doubt in my mind the fact that the S5 has 345bhp compared to the 300bhp in the 335i will be a deciding factor for alot of potential buyers. These two cars really don't compare in my opinion. The 335i is just overpriced as all BMWs generally are. Such a small difference in price yet such a dramatic increase in horsepower...

Can you define that "small difference" please?

The BMW 335i coupe starts at $40,800

I can almost guarantee the new Audi S5 will start at $50,000 large.

The BMW 335i straight up spanks it. Audi didnt hit the target on this one.

I have to agree with most posters and the original writer of the article. The 335i
seems like the superior vehicle. I also think it looks better, and is better for a lower price.

If Im not mistaken, you can get a M-sport package and the 335i would still cost less ( I think ). Thats a bargain since the M package makes the car look light years better.

Audi's current V6 engine is in the inherently-out-of-balance 90-degree configuration. The perfectly balanced BMW in-line 6 is a superior engine for that reason. However, BMW does not explain the exact inner workings of its AWD system -- I don't trust it as I do not know what clutches will wear out and give me trouble down the road. I am familiar with Audi's center Torsen differential set-up and trust it completely based on extensive personal experience in winter mountain snow storms. I wish BMW would adopt the Subaru WRX Sti AWD system which has a Torsen in the rear, a VC in the front and a center differential that can be locked by the driver on demand.
