When it comes to interesting marketing campaigns, the automotive industry has had its great ones also its bad ones.

We'll let YOU decide on this one.

Oh-kay, Mercedes-Benz's Formula 1 team has an existing partnership with mobile device maker, Blackberry. Somehow this company isn't extinct but I'll leave that to a tech blog to consider.

Though we can't confirm whose idea it was — perhaps it was just a spur the moment thing — F1 racing driver Nico Rosberg took out a 1954 Mercedes race car driven by the famed Fangio for a lap around Hockenheim.

I have to admit as a car geek it's pretty cool to see him puttering around the track from this perspective; however, we do have to remember that people are stupid and could attempt this on the road. Keep in mind, people ARE stupid enough to do that whole "ghost ride" thing and have killed people in the process of trying to be cool.

So, we have to ask: is this stunt AWESOME or AWFUL?

I am a firm believer in Darwin but perhaps its best not entice idiots with ideas. What say you, Spies?
