Acura V8 won't Arrive Until 2015: Report

According to the source, the new engine won’t be ready for the next-generation RL, due around 2010 or 2011, but will most likely appear in the generation after that, sometime around 2015.

Acura has major plans for its future lineup, with a range of RWD models designed to target BMW’s 3, 5, and 7-Series.

WELL MATE THEY ARE SETTING THEIR TARGETS TOO HIGH.....IF THEY WANT TO BEAT BMW THEY WILL HAVE TO COME OUT WITH A GENUINE MACHINE WITHOUT AN UGLY >>BEAK>>

The RWD is interesting news - would probably help a lot for Acura to establish its brand more as a direct competitor with Lexus and Infiniti. Having more RWD cars would also help Acura distinguish itself from Honda.

Then they just gotta work on their exterior designs.

As the Japanese luxury market moves forward, Acura still sits in the past. In order for Acura to be taken seriously they must implement a V8 into their lineup (preferably the RL flagship).

Hyundai knows what it takes to enter the luxury segment and they have a V6 and V8 models offered for their Genesis sedan. Perhaps veteran Acura should take a few tips from the new kid on the block.

The sorriest foreign luxury car brand on the market today. Now its going to be nearly 7 years before they get a V8. Acura is so stupid and now ugly it isn't even funny anymore. By 2015 V8s may now longer be in fashion, and if they are Acura's will need to be something special to compete with whatever Lexus, MB, Audi, and BMW are pushing by then. Acura is just so sorry, such a non-event, a loser.

Maybe when Lexus, Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Cadillac, Lincoln, and Infiniti have all moved on to anti-matter engines, Acura MIGHT be ready with their gasoline V8.
