This morning on the San Diego Freeway, Al Gore Jr.

(III) was arrested for drug possession and doing over 100MPH in his Prius!

Never knew a Prius could go that fast!

Not sure why most of u are surprised by this. Any car with over 90hp can do at least 100mph. Aspecially now that they're so aerodynamic.

In Los Angeles, I see SO many people hauling ass in their Prii. I've never driven one but they seem fast according to all the eco-chic Angelenos who take off from stop lights like jack rabbits and go 70 down Olympic Blvd. Oh and as for the drugs, Happy 4th of July!!!

Whether or not this story is true, I have been passed on the freeway on more than one occasion by a Pruis. And for me to be passed on the freeway, you have to be doing at least 30 over. So much for saving the planet hypocrites.

with only slight modifications, a Prius was clocked on the Bonneville salt flats at 137 mph.

the most significant of the mods, was bypassing the speed limiter.

why do people assume the MOST FUEL EFFICIENT vehicle on the planet can not ALSO be efficient at burning up the road?

why is Lexus offering A HYBRID powertrain in their new sports car?

He was probably still getting 40 mpg, even at that speed. On the way to Vegas I had my Prius up to 85mph and was still getting in the high 40s mpg. Maybe he was just testing out its capabilities.
