Alfa Romeo Brera S revealed
Few sports cars are developed specifically for Britain’s roads. Those that have been tend to become true ‘driver’s cars’. Alfa Romeo is planning for the new, limited edition Alfa Brera S to join those ranks. After a year of intensive suspension and chassis development at Prodrive, the world-leading motorsport specialist, the result is a sports coupe that subtly enhances all that is good about the original Alfa Brera, while bestowing it with outstanding driver feedback and handling.

Although beautiful, its perhaps on of the biggest alfa mistakes and failures. To heavy, GM engines (YES! imagine that), and far from the prototype beauty. A really poor compromise .

your right the GM engine is certainly a mistake.....i mean GM knows nothing about engines like that awful 7.0 liter V8 500hp Z06 that gets better epa ratings alot of cars with less power not to mention smaller engines.....Gm really is the only company that makes heavy engines...dont they know the competitions engines are only a few ounces.....what a rediculous argument...the brera is a beautiful car its engines are not its problem, and neither is styling

Beautiful, but unreliable. Hence I would never get it. Give me a Corolla any day.

bmwdrvr, you are right about those huge engines, but v6 engines that alfa is puting in this model, its just crap. And yes, its really hard for alfa to sell cars with american/australian engine.

Did I just read the someone would take a Corolla over an Alfa...
...what is the world coming to. They are chalk and cheese. If a Corolla is your thing, why bother even reading this thread, let alone posting on it.
And the modern Alfa is not the unreliable product of years gone by, the brand has made massive steps forward in quality and reliability. Maybe not the best, but certainly not unreasonable.
And what's so bad about the V6 - sonorous and torquey. Hardly a bad thing - especially against many competitor products that offer 4pot engines. Any comparison against a V8 is completely irrelevant - this isn't a car that fits in a segment that works with V8's - it's a European targetted model primarily, and V8's simply don't work in Europe outside of supercars, premium sports saloons or old 4x4's. Our taxation and running costs simply make them impossible propositions.
The only think Alfa Brera lacked at launch was handling dynamics (ok so weight didn't help, but that's a result of all the attempts to quality whilst still deliver a product that delivers the necessary safety levels for European standards). This Prodrive package is designd to target exactly what is lacking, so makes perfect sense as a great move for Alfa.

EDIT:
The only thing Alfa Brera lacked at launch was handling dynamics (ok so weight didn't help, but that's a result of all the attempts to raise quality whilst still delivering a product that provides the necessary safety levels for European standards). This Prodrive package is designed to target exactly what is lacking, so makes perfect sense as a great move for Alfa.
