All Of The Details On Audi's Future Line Up
The next Audi RS4 will be supercharged, the R8’s V10 will be naturally aspirated and we won’t be seeing an Audi that’s smaller than the A1 supermini any time soon.

That’s all according to a high-placed Audi source that CAR sat down with at the recent Q5 4x4 launch. Read on for everything our source had to say about Audi’s secret new model programme.

Let’s start with the smallest car, the A1. It’s due in 2010 and will eventually be available as a convertible and off-roader, alongside the regular three- and five-door hatches.

Our source calls it Audi’s ‘Mini-killer’ but adamantly says the A1 will not have retro styling. It’ll share its platform with forthcoming Polo, which means the A1 uses the same underpinnings as the new Seat Ibiza. Which makes us think that Audi has some work to do if it wants to match the Mini dynamically...

I mean, do you look for all things Audi? All things considering "vws fwd lineup" appears to be doing very, very well for themselves. I plan on getting a vehicle from "vws fwd lineup" and I want to thank you for pointing me in that direction.

you call Audi FWD but it shares little with the VW FWD you compare it to. The engine in the VW are mounted sideways, not long ways like the Audi's. This is so you don't have to have the transition for the AWD like you do with VW's 4motion. Audi's are designed from the start as AWD. I am not a huge Audi fan, but this is pretty much common knowledge. But you are not a car enthusiast, you are a BMW enthusiast. There is a big difference

engine mounting does little to negate the fact Audis for the most part are rehashed VW cars in some way shape or form, from interior bits, to suspension bits, to platforms all together and engines.....so step into reality

BMW uses Chevy transmissions, so your BMW is nothing more than a Chevy according to BMW folks thinking.

The latest Audis share little with VW. Using the same (award winning) engine doesn't make Audis any worse.

Oh no he didnt get cocky and imply that the other sports saloons are following them with their RS4. It could just as easily be said that they 'followed' Cadillac and m-b, since the CTS-v and c55 came before it.

lol wow that was a pretty comment deboost tatted if you like......but hes right.....on one part actually wrong another.....the first V8 powered model came from Mercedes benz with the C class AMG back in the 90's so follow suit....is by all means a lie, why we are also talking time frame Mercedes Benz was also the first to create a supercharged V6 in this segment with the C32AMG......so what exactly are they are talking about......

and to the person that said what do you expect for him to say........HOPEFULLY THE REPRESENTATIVE FOR A COMPANY DOESNT HAVE TO STAND UP THEIR AND LIE TO MAKE THEMSELVES LOOK GOOD......THAT SAIDS ALOT ABOUT THE COMPANY ITSELF.........

maybe he meant a highly-tuned performance V8, not just a V8 for V8 sake.

deboost if you want lol.....but when Audi officials have to lie i think they have no clout whatsoever.....for 2 reasons 1.Mercedes was the first with the V8 in this class, 2. the CTS came out in 04, 3. The M3 getting a V8 was natural as the M5 went up in engine size, and the M3 traditonally had 2 less cylinders......but hey I guess Audi needs all the LIES it can get to give them some kind of credentials lol....no matter how made up, and falsified...lmao at follow suit

I don't think it's really important what the Audi rep says, if that helps you make your decision you are a weenie who buys the hats & coffee cups with your brands logo. I'd be pleased to own any one, just that I've driven the RS4 and would love one.

What about the RS5? That is only natural to have that go against the M3 coupe.

I think the S5 is one of the best looking cars on the road. I'd love to see an RS5. There was talk of one coming out next spring but all has gone quiet recently. I understand that the S5 is supposed to be a tourer, but it's gorgeous so a fast and sportier version would be a winner.

You can say that BMW followed the RS4 as it came out with a very similar engine concept. But both cars were in development before the other one came out.

As for the supercharged V6 for the next RS4? Sounds a little fishy. Other sources call for a V8.

Next to the crushed tuna can M1 concept this is the one of the ugliest renditions of a car I've seen this year, that just doesn't look right.

It doesn't matter the next RS4 will still be just as potent. If we're arguing here about a V6 vs V8 as considered options we're getting a little too childish here. Lets look at the possibilities and potential rather than thinking like an "American" where bigger is better.

Look at what you guys are arguing over. It is what it is so wait until details have been released and confirmed.
