That is the most sound system to ever reach my ears in a car, at least the S8 model.

I had the chance to hear the Volvo advanced soundsystem in the V70 and I was blown away! Alpine amplifier, dolby surround, dynaudio speakers.. ******* BRILLIANT sounding!

Blows anything from Mark Levinson or Bose out of the water!

Whether B&O's digital signal processing is worth the cost is probably a personal decision, but let's not get carried away about your personal audio marketing brand of preference -- it means nothing (sorry, Sevorbeupstry). I would hope that most buyers buy their car based exclusively on audio system brand name anyway.

I'm not a very accomplished audiophile, but I have learned enough to know that most people's idea of what makes a quality audio system is FAR off base, especially those who repeat brand names and meaningless numbers like peak power, diameter of speaker drivers, or number of speakers. Much more revealing is a discussion of what material they play, clarity, pureness of tone, noise floor, S/N ratio, etc.

Each application requires proper acoustic engineering, and I expect Audi will be about as good as anyone else in this regard -- they already have the best interiors in their classes, in my opinion. I wish the article would cite the award that the B&O system won. Anyway, I'm interested to test it myself, so we shall see if it's any different than the many other excellent car audio systems available today.
