All-new Vw Touareg confirmed for the 2010 Detroit Auto Show… again!

An all-new Volkswagen Touareg will be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show in January (this was also confirmed by us back in August in this post).

That the line-up will include a hybrid from the outset is a pleasant surprise. This petrol-electric Touareg is actually VW’s first production hybrid. It will be the first of several new hybrid and electric models that will be launched by VW in 2013.

Expect the new Touareg range, including the hybrid, to go on sale in the second half of 2010. Karl-Thomas Neumann, former Continental boss, has been brought in to lead VW’s electric propulsion development and will start next month.

Good thing they didn't axed it.

The Touareg, as well as being a very competent SUV both on road and off road, has been and is still one of the best looking SUV on the market.

Hope they won't be too drastic in the redesign.

yeah sure, you're also 100 000 000 time less likely to contract a sexually transmitted discease if you don't have sex.

The Touareg is at least 27 more complex than a Insight. Make sense to me.

They were thinking about axing it? I can see VW ending Touareg production as long as Porsche continues to sell Cayennes. At best the next gen Touareg/Cayenne will be lighter, more street-oritented, and better organized in both the interior/exterior designs.

Vehicle with the worst reliability in recent JD Powers survey.
27 times more likely to have problems than a Honda Insight. That is how bad it is....
Good luck owning one.

Toyota has more recalls than any other manufacturer... atleast in the U.S. I bet Consumer Reports forgot to mention that.
