An Air Car You Could See in 2009: ZPM’s 106 MPG Compressed-Air Hybrid
Compressed-Air Powered cars could take you over 800 miles on a single fill-up, at speeds of up to 96 mph. They should refuel in less than 3 minutes, and at speeds over 35 mph emit about half the CO2 of a Toyota Prius. Best part? You could see them in the US at the end of next year. Read Article

I will be surprised to see this car here in north America! I hope it has good crash standards. I saw this around 2 years ago, Needs more power! All they have to do is add another one of there light engines behind the other for 140 hp, that will be sufficient for a commuter car for 6. The government will hate this car if everyone bought this!

OMG...this thing just came out of nowhere! I LOVE IT! Better cars mean more competition, which means even better cars for us all in the near future!!!
It's just like the car that runs on water, whether the source was the sea, glacier, or water bottle.

I really do hope the auto giants perfect these technologies...I mean...look at all the luxuries that we get an economy car these days that were once reserved for higher end brands...god I'm confused...but I had a point!

for example.
Using a .5l engine. You can only get a total of 181,226 Revolutions.

Lets say the engine runs at an average of 1000rpm. You get a run time of about 3 hours.

And lets not even consider how much energy is stored in the gas.
(which is about 1,300,000 ft-lbs per 1L tank @ 4500 psi) got from MIL-STD-1522A

But for some reason the ZPM people dont tell us how big the tank of air is.

more improtantly. The smallest 6 cylinder engine was ~.75l, which if this engine is the same size, it would only run for about 2 hours. And if you average 2000rpms. well that air will last you a whole 1 hour.

huh? Half the co2 emissions of a prius? Didn't it just say that it runs on compressed air?that would mean that the only co2 emissions would be the co2 that was already in the air. Unless they are counting the emissions of the power plant that made the electricity that was used to run the compressor.

Read the article again. Above 35mph, it burns fuel to produce more air.

Is this the vehicle that Neil Young has been promoting?

I saw him on Charlie Rose last week talking about that he is converting a '50's era car to run on compressed air.

It sounded crazy (coming from him), but after reading this article maybe this idea is starting to make sense.

Even if this does come to the U.S., let alone even be built, will it still cost more than many can afford?

I really want to see someone come up with a car that gets INSANE gas mileage, yet doesn't cost over $15,000 USD. They should make a challenge or something.
