General Motors remains confident that there is strong demand for the Chevy Volt and it has been announcing plans to raise production numbers but TrueCar analysts say that it may be too optimistic.

The car benefits from the massive tax incentives to make the $41,000 entry price more appealing to consumers. Last week, GM CEO Dan Akerson said that he aims to sell 25,000 Volts in 2011, and 120,000 units in 2012 – which is double the figure that was cited originally.
