Another Nissan GT-R wrecked
We’ve seen at least three Nissan GT-R’s wrecked here and there and today we add another to the collection with this white Godzilla spotted at a car auction.
VWVortex member Skot53 writes: A good friend is into finding fixable (i.e. just barely legally totaled) cars at auction, so he does a fair amount of searching… Well, he e-mails me last night with this little gem….

I wonder if Nissan voided the warranty after this.

No, voiding warranties is the expertise of BMW NA, that's how they're able to stay in business... poor saps are always willing to pay out of their pocket thinking it must be the price to pay for driving the "Ultimate driving machine", when in fact what they're driving are half-hazardly put together bucket of bolts that is a quality control nightmare, not to mention wooden steering and lazy throttle response.
Notice BMW never does a recall even for something important as Airbags! it was only when NHTSA stepped in to "discover" the problem for them that they do a recall. Like wise for last gen 3-series "no-reverse" problem, likes wise for run-flat tire fiasco, and like wise for N54 twin turbo cooling management and high pressure fuel pump failures...
BMW has more "limp modes" than Windows98 operating system had BSOD (blue screen of death)

No surprise to see so many of these econoboxes crashed considering the type of people(trash)that chooses to buy them.

I'm assuming that the crashes have also something to do with the owners of these econoboxes trying to get their money back by smashing(totaling) this POS GT-Rs. Who can blame them? Ha, ha, ha...

Owned 4 previous BMW's and currently own an 08 335i Coupe now and have never had the problems you lie about on this site auto001.
Consumer Reports recommends the 3, 5 and 7 series and their reliability is above average.
Why don't you try stating some facts instead of vomiting lies as always on this site.

Auto001, just curious -- what do you drive? Are you a jilted BMW lover? Did a woman with a BMW dump you -- perhaps in public, perhaps embarrassingly? There is nothing short of a Bimmer leaving you stranded in the heart of Deliverance country that could make you possible spew forth the venom you do against the marque. I get it -- you don't like Bimmers. In other news, the world is still revolving around the sun...

gooch, I was a BMW owner and most likely will be in the future because I simply love how BMWs look and drive...but what he's saying is 100% true! I've had my weather strippings replaced twice on each side (first time being covered under warranty and the rest out of my own pocket) when clearly it was a deefect and should've been a recall...and this is just one story...I have a few!
Even if the 3, 5, and 7 series have become more reliable (good that they have), it has nothing to do with BMW not doing recalls when they should...and yes they make so much profits from repairs after their 50k warranty is up. I can estimate about $6,000 of my own money spent on that...not a good feeling which is partially the reason I switched over to Infiniti for now.

SHOWTIME,
How is it that I have owned 5 BMW's and put over 100,000 miles on some of them and never had the problems you and auto001 claim.
Sure BMW has had recalls that were fixed under warranty, just like Lexus, Infiniti, MB, Acura, Audi and Toyota.
BMW has always been proactive in solving issues and I find their service depts. far superior to Lexus, Acura, Infiniti, Toyota and vastly superior to MB. The only other make that has a service dept. that can compare to BMW is Audi.
Before you even ask yes I have owned not leased all of the above listed cars. I love cars and try not to be biased but BMW has proven time and time again to be the most reliable, most fun to drive and best handling of them all.
All of the BMW's I owned were different year models too. They ranged in year makes from 1995 to 2008, all were 3 series sedans and coupes except one 530i.
All this BS about BMW's being unreliable, and subpar is fabricated by the haters who can't stand BMW for building the Ultimate Driving Machine.
The one Lexus I did own in 2002 was in the shop almost as many times as the MB. So much for the dependable, reliable Lexus theory.

Showtime, believe it or not, I am going to take my 325i (sport package/manual tranny) back to the dealer for the third time because of the weatherstripping. In fact, just last night, as I picked up a friend from dropping her car off at a dealership, I looked at a Mercedes E-class and thought to myself, "Why can't my weatherstripping be like this?"
So yes, they do have problems, but so do all cars. This is my first BMW and the only problem I've had in 30K miles (I bought it with 30K on the clock) is the weatherstripping. I'm pretty damn happy and won't hesitate to get another because I love how the car drives. And since the dealer warrants its work for 12 months/12K miles, fixing the weatherstripping again will be free. The other side is correct, so I'm sure they'll have this side correct this time.
I know a lot of people who have owned BMWs and got rid of them because they didn't know better than to take their cars to the dealer after the free maintenance period then are shocked at how much the dealer charges for services. I've got an awesome indy mechanic who makes service a relatively (!) pain-free experience. It is still expensive, don't get me wrong, but I was prepared for that and I don't have a problem with it. I knew what I was getting into.

What a painful sight to see, even as a 997 TT owner. The GT-R is an amazing sports car and deserves much respect. I may be putting down on a spec V but from what I read on this website the production has been halted?
Ne-who, I have been reading the comments and arguments back and forth between the German fans and the Import fans and I have one thing to say. It's definitely a luxury to own a Porsche such as the 997 but it's a bargain and a thrill to own a GT-R.
I show no biased views. I have owned a couple Supra's in my day and am on my second Porsche 911 and I have no complaints.

No I don't drive a BMW (not that I couldn't afford it), I drive an Acura, you can pass judgments if you wish but I rate ownership experience and reliability far ahead of brand imaging.
It's your money drive whatever you want, that's not my business, I was just responding to OP's insipid remarks about Nissan and the GT-R.

QuantumMatrix, what can I say...I guess you're just lucky like that. Like I said before, I can give you plenty of things that went wrong and have known others who have all had similar problems... my point is that even under warranty, the dealer would try to find any reason they could not to cover the car under warranty. Fore xample, sunroof wasn't opening and closing properly cuz it fell off the alignment. Guess what they said? It's possibly due to driver miss-use LOL!!. Opening and closing a sunroof, how hard could it be ayyyy? Had to call BMW NA to complain until they finally said ok we'll fix it. I do agree that some dealers are better than others but I was sick of their bull crap!
Gooch,
lol thats funny cuz it's exactly what I would do (go look at another car and study the weather stripping and wonder why it wasn't built like this). Unfortunately, chances are it will fall off again because what happens is the suns heat/rays shrinks the rubber causing it to detach. If it falls off again after your warranty is up, just go get some special rubber glue and attach it back urself. It never came off after cuz the rubber could not shring anymore.

Porsche and Nissan are not in the same class. A Porsche is still a better build than the GT-R. I've sat/driven both and still prefer the Porsche. I'm not too fond of the cheap plastic bits Nissan uses in their cars. I guess for those who have been use to years of 350z interiors its a bit better.

This topic with the GT-R vs. 911 TT is getting boring. Every things been said and done. An acquaintance of mine dyno'd in his GT-R in Phoenix, AZ with a little over 500hp so that should say something. Edmunds also ran similar results when they did their own tests, enough said. The fanboys can deboost all they want, the fact of the matter is I love both cars so hate me for that but dyno doesn't lie.
