Aston's Lagonda brand will build a Mercedes S-Class rival
Aston Martin’s newly revived Lagonda brand will come to the market next year with a concept version of their first vehicle that will enter production by 2012. That’s basically all the information we have from Aston Martin on what’s in store for Lagonda.

But now we have more info, courtesy of Julian Jenkins, general manager of Aston Martin North America. According to Jenkins, Lagonda will share Aston’s VH platform, however, the ride will be softer. Don’t be mistaken - while Lagonda will focus on sedans, the sedans will still go very fast and will be...

I have to ask, where does this leave the Rapide?! Or will the Rapide be a Lagonda Rapide and not an Aston?! This leaves me a little confused as I find it to be a strange way to launch a "new" brand by building a somewhat direct competitor under a sister Brand which people already know and love! Even connoisseurs will only remember Lagonda as that strange looking thing from the 80's!

if the Lagonda enters production in 2012-2013, the Rapide will already have been around for a while, and if the lagonda is the same price as an S-class, I can imagine it's going to be a fair bit cheaper than the Rapide.

seems like rapide and logonda sedan relationship will be something like A8 and Phaeton.
if that's the case, not very intelligent. People will always go for the Aston Martin name/badge, compare to the awkward amd lesser known Lagonda.

The Rapide will be quite a bit above the CLS as that is basically a fastback e-class... The Panamera will compete with the CLS... The Rapide will compete with the Estoque...

Where did I hear about Mercedes and Aston Martin working together? ...and Maybach getting some help.
Whoops, maybe I've mistaken 'cause from what I see, Maybach is doomed forever.

I hope Aston handles this better than Mercedes did with Maybach..Aston is a strong brand right now and the last thing they need is to detract from the growth with another brand. Also, is there really enough room in this uber high end sedan segment for all of the existing and rumored cars from Rolls Royce, Maybach, Lagonda, Bentley, Lambo, and Bugatti? They must all be very confident about the future of the economy.
