I've said it before, and I will say it again. The new B8 Audi A4 may not look much different than the previous model and it may not drive completely different than the old model in terms of acceleration but it has three advantages that truly set it apart from the old model. They are:
1. Hugely Improved Handling - the handling is improved to the point where the new A4 is a true driver's car. Maybe not to the extent of the BMW 3-series, but the A4 offers extreme grip, much better balance than the old A4, a much better chassis than the old A4, very neutral (not as nose heavy) as the previous model. This creates a car that is fun
2. Larger interior - The A4 always lost points due to interior space. Sure, the A4 has always had an excellent interior, but the space simply was not adequate for two adults in the rear. What does Audi do? They extend the car a huge amount, thereby increasing the interior legroom significantly and improving the handling.
3. Features not found in other models in this class - Examples are climate controlled front seats with ventillation, which is a first for this cass. The 120hp and 160hp 1.8 TFSI, the 2.0 TDI and the 2.7 TDI are at the moment available as FWD only.

BMW 318i piece of shit. It only offers driver enjoyment, but little else. Not as roomy as the Audi A4, not as many advanced options as the Audi A4, not as comfortable on a daily basis as the Audi A4, and now.....only a slight advantage in driver enjoyment.
