Audi A4 Pricing Announced At UK
The New Audi A4 was one of the most anticipated cars of the year when it made its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, now is the time to go visit the bank manager because Audi have confirmed the pricing with the entry level model to start at £22,590.
Now lets put this into perspective, that is a full £2500 more than the previous generation entry level model, but puts it right in the middle of the BMW 3 Series Saloon and Mercedes C Class Saloon which are priced from £21,035 and £22,937 respectively.
The first deliveries will be made in sping 2008.
-UK pricing and specification for all new A4 released on Press Day at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show
-Prices range from £22,590 OTR to £30,290 OTR
-Engines at launch (UK): 1.8 TFSI 160PS, 3.2 FSI 265PS, 2.0 TDI 143PS, 2.7 TDI 190PS, 3.0 TDI 240PS
-New sports chassis with repositioned front axle, all new steering and latest generation quattro system with 40:60 torque split
-Longest wheelbase in the class giving reduced overhangs for optimised weight distribution and exceptional interior space
-Advanced features including Audi Drive Select enabling tailoring of throttle, steering and suspension characteristics to suit driver preferences
As the all new Audi A4 saloon is released from captivity on Press Day at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show, Audi UK will simultaneously make the first phase of right-hand-drive versions available for order. Priced from £22,590 OTR, the compact executive positioned as the sportiest in the premium sector will reach its first UK customers in spring 2008.

Overpriced. should come in under both BMW and Mercedes pricing to try
and capture more of the marketplace. I hope this is not the strategy they will be using in North America a year from now. No way they will be even close to BMW, Lexus or Mercedes sales that way.

They're already above Merc(in sales) in Britain so they have enough confidence to raise prices. And the IS is expensive as well, starts at 23000, more than any of the German makes. But it doesn't have the small engine choices.

Rupert beat me to it- Audi is preferred over Merc in the UK. They can have more expensive cars and get away with it. The US version will probably be slightly less than the C-Class.

David missed the Audi memo about two years ago that stated Audi will be increasing prices in order to raise brand perception, perceived quality and parity with their German competitor BMW.
Look at the A8. The prices have increased and are very close to that of the BMW 7-series.
The next generation A8 will likely be the same price as BMW's 7.

Audi's are nice vehicles, but...
The perception of many seems to be that they (especially the A4 and A6) compete more with Acura (and the like) in the American market (Read: Near-Luxury), so these prices may not go over well in the U.S.

Yeah.. but the Brand Image in America is getting better and better every year.
Although it's getting better, majority of American people think that Audi is not in par with the other luxury companies but it's just America.
Anywhere else, they are seen as par with M.B. and BMW.

These prices are not going to be directly translated into dollars, obviously. Not all markets have the same pricing! So many of you jump to conclusions! Wait until the American prices come out: the A4 2.0T will be less than the C300.

amazinBimmer is banned thankfully, as is BenzW124. Their comments are solely intended to degrade Audi's image, hurt Audi's perception on this website and spread negative publicity. Autospies is a car enthusiast website where enthusiasts of all makes should be able to come and read reliable information.
Their comments directly interfered with the mission of this website and therefore they were banned from posting again.
Look for prices of the Audi A6 and next generation A8 to be equal, if not higher than BMW's respective 5 and 7-series models.

GermanNut, I agree with your appraisals of AmazinBimmer and BenzW124 - they were idiots. AmazinBimmer was not only stupid, he was obscene too. Both of them spewed outrageous opinions based on either incorrect information or no information at all.
That said, they provided a plurality of the comic relief on this site. Part of the fun of this website was anticipating their lunatic comments on any article dealing with German cars. I will miss the jerks.

but sales of A8 and 7 series are not equal , 50,000 plus 7 series vs. 22,000 A8 world wide. In the USA both the new A6 and the A8 do not sell, 800 plus per month A6 and 200 plus A8 pathetic. these cars are overpriced . You know Audi has been trying to catch up to Mercedes and BMW since the 1960's. Audi is overpriced especially the Front - trak verisons which 2 out 3 audi buyers purchase might as well buy the VW.

Actually, it's the other way around: 2/3 of Audi buyers opt for quattro.
Ignorant fool.
Who cares about the sales of full-sized luxury sedans? Is that what it's all about? Sales? I'd rather have an excellent product that doesn't sell, like the A8, than an incompetent "player" in the luxury class like the 7 Series. At the moment, there is simply no reason to choose the 7 over the A8 unless you are a badge whore. The A8 has as good/better handling, is much nicer on the inside, looks better and is even a few grand less. If Audis are overpriced, where does that leave BMW?

Larry is lying yet again and he fails to see that the Audi A8 is a superior product to the BMW 7-series. Even though Larry can counter and say because more people prefer the BMW 7-series, which also costs more than the Audi, the BMW must be the better product.
Unfortunately, this is not the case as witnessed by the many reviews and comparison tests done by established and reputed car magazines and publications both in the United States and Europe.
It just so happens that a smaller minority of consumers are enjoying a superior product in the Audi A8 when compared to the BMW 7-series.

Having spent ample seat time in both...
The AUDI A8 is vastly superior to the 7-series ergonomically, aesthetically, as an automotive value.
The ONLY area I'd give the 7-Series a slight lead is in driving dynamics at the limit, which is all both moot to most people who actually buy/lease these vehicles.

Audi A8 same old 90's design, looks like a VW Phateon to me, no matter what the magazine critics says few people with $70k walk into the Audi showroom looking for an A8 at least $25,000 overpriced, maybe audi could sell more than 200 a month in the US, the biggest market for large luxury sedans.

Let me put it this way: you're wrong.
The A8 has aged very well. It's timeless. It racks up award, after award, after award, even in its last years.
The 7 Series is depressing. Honestly. When I went to the BMW dealer to test drive cars with my wife, I sat in the updated 5 Series and was very impressed. It had the high-quality interior construction that was lacking before, it looked very modern and obviously, when we drove the 535xi it performed very well. However, when I sat in the 750Li, the plastics and wood felt cheaper, the seats were less comfortable, and it just felt like an outdated, not very luxurious vehicle.
Not only that, but now the 5 Series looks better. They need to do something about their unimpressive "flagship" sedan.

To you the Audi looks like a Phaeton, to others it doesn't. To you it may seem overpriced, but to other it doesn't. Larry, again, you provide no facts and only your opinion.
The bottom line is I don't care what your OPINION is Larry. I care about what auto industry magazines whose job it is to test and compare cars from all different genres ranging from minivans to $1 million sports cars think.
They think the Audi A8 is a better overall car than the BMW 7-series.
Like I said before, I'm not going to believe that because more people buy the more expensive 7-series, it is a better car than the Audi A8.
The public is unfortunately, misinformed when it comes to cars and most couldn't even tell you the horsepower figure of their cars.

s4. stop lying.. "2 out of 3 buyers opt for quattro" THATS BECAUSE THE POS CAR IS NATURALLY A A FWD!!!!!!. I have concluded that audi owners are nothing more than underachieving mental midgets. that dont get basic marketing and then try and converse with higher forms of intelligent life. (BMW/Benz) owners.
can you imagine driving a fwd a8??????? HAHAHAHAHAHHAH.

Agent 001, please ban amazinBimmer.
His comments are as unecessary and degrading as BenzW124's.
amazinBimmer provides no factual information to support his opinions and his only reason to post is to support BMW while purposely degrading Audi's image.
Autospies is an enthusiast website and can not tolerate having people that post solely to ruin the image of one of the world's great car brands.
amazinBimmer's posts degrade Audi's image, ruin public perception of the brand and are not based on any factual information, rather only opinion.
We can't see this blatant deiregard for the Audi brand any longer.
I ask that you please take action immediately, Agent 001, and ban amazinBimmer from further destroying your credible website.

If Audi owners have higher incomes on average than their BMW and Mercedes counterparts and are mental midgets, what would that make their BMW and Mercedes counterparts, amazinBimmer?

His comments are just so hilariously wrong. "BMW/Benz" owners are frequently the least-knowledgeable car buyers in the business, only going for the badge and not really caring about the vehicle itself. I have some close friends who do have Merc/BMWs, but then I know a lot more people who drive them and are just idiots. amazinBimmer is an example of the latter.

This is, by the way, what keeps me from buying them. I would go for a BMW only if I also had an Audi in the garage, because that's just the kind of person I am. This may happen in the near future- but I will never own two BMWs at once. It will be one of these four options:
1. Audi and BMW
2. Audi and Porsche
3. Two Porsches
4. Two Audis
Obviously, I may not have both of my cars from any of these brands. But it's very likely.
