Audi AMI & the iPhone
A lot of compaines have been talking about the iphone working with their car soon. Here is a bit on what you can do with Audi NOW.
• Audi tunes models ready for the new iPhone
• Full functionality of the mobile phone guaranteed
Audi and the iPhone – high technology in a perfect design. Even at the time of its launch, the first mobile phone from Apple can be used in all Audi models. The big seller in the U.S. (more than 270,000 phones sold in the first 30 hours) is eagerly awaited in this country too. According to a survey, every third Apple fan would definitely like to buy the phone and, what is more, “right away”.
Audi and Apple have been working closely to ensure that the full functionality of the iPhone is available in most Audi models. The only requirement is the mobile phone preparation with the Bluetooth interface, optionally available in all Audi model lines. Alongside the standard hands-free functions (accept/reject call/hands-free), the mobile phone preparation supports the display of the signal strength and the provider’s name, in addition to the transfer of the telephone directory including the icons “Work”, “Home”, “Mobile” and the call lists.
In addition to making telephone calls, the Audi music interface (available as an optional extra for the A5, A6, A8 and Q7) allows customers to enjoy the iPhone’s music playback function in supreme quality via the in-car sound system. What is more, thanks to the Audi MMI, customers can navigate conveniently through their music compilations by artist, track title, playlists and genre – in exactly the same way they are accustomed to from their iPod.

if anyone can help
what is the interface for the Ipod and BMW (not a flame war) just interested. In the Audi the AMI turnes the car into a ipod (the screen looks like an ipod)
right now AMI is on all MMI models A8, S8, A6, S6, S5, Q7
the A4, TT, and A3 just have a connection and playlist (not as tight)

I wasn't aware that BMW had a 600hp 5 series "M" wagon. Silly me.

They have a 507hp 5 Series "M" wagon.. I guess they could just Twin Turbo it, but that's not their style.

BMW4ever, I'd be shocked if BMW WASN'T, because they're in a partnership with Apple. I love how you use every excuse you get to bash other brands like Audi, Lexus and M-B. You're one of the worst.

actually i dont bash everyother model, just the people that defend them like they are the savior to the world. I wasnt bashing Audi, I was more or less bashing the title of the article. That is great that Audi now offers Iphone capability. The real question, is why hasnt lexus stepped forward? psst. news flash I work for a dealer that sells BMW & Mercedes. Also, my brother is one of the top mechanics in the state of Illinois for Audi. I prefer BMW's. I have had 12 years of experience in the auto industry in high-line sales and have driven all the competitors cars. I just happen to be very blunt and opinionated, especially when the biases on this site so favor one brand over the other. get a grip

MaindrianPace- stop for years we have been hearing how real sports cars are not turbo then we see the 3 series and 5 series
believe me we will see a M 5 with bi turbos soon enough and you will be saying how cool the car is

If you find me the post where I said "Turbo's aren't proper sports cars" then okay - but I know I've never said that - My comment wasn't intended as a dig - I was merely stating the BMW M's current philosophy is for high revving naturally aspirated engines.
For the record, my all-time 2nd favourite BMW is the 2002 Turbo.

Personally I can't stand Apple products (especially the iPod).. I hate things that are style-over-substance.. like for instance... Bang & Olufsen Stereo's...
.. and Audi's (hehe, let the deboosting commence!)

I hate Apple too, but even I have an iPhone.
...now if only Lexus could make compatible software with their touchscreen system; that'd be killer.

Now for bmw4me4ever
It happens that I own a Q7, and an Allroad, and it happens that my wife and I bought an I-phone for each of us and it synced perfectely with the Q7 bluetooth. I can even connect it to the I-pod Audi interface and access the I-tunes play list and control them from the MMI system, and if there is a incoming call it reverts automatically to the phone sync.
So before you open your mouth not knowing what you are talking about and with your never follow nonsenses, please do all of us a favor and do some research. and by the way Audi does not use "never follow" anymore, but maybe you live in a closet with no TV and just your computer locked on Autospies.com.

1evel audi ... maybe you should do a little research before inserting foot into mouth. BMW's bluetooth has done that since its introduction. BMW announced that it was capatable with the iphone before it was introduced. Anyways, it is nice to see Audi offering similar technology. Currently BMW and Audi are some of the only manufacturers who realized that this is important. The iphone will revolutionize the communication industry, just as the ipod/usb ports. Where is lexus at in the ipod seemless innovation?

In fact, 1evlaudi did not mention BMW, ONCE. He never disagreed with you, so there was no reason for this random burst of anger. YOU were the one who was bashing Audi- nobody was bashing BMW.
As for Lexus... you just proved my point: you bash brands any time you can. That was nonsense.

Well Audi did not annouced it, OMG! The world is going to end. How about just doing it and let the consumers enjoy the benefits of it. There are so many innovations/new technologies/improvements that Audi has been introducing without announcing them. Big deal, are you telling me that if you don't read it in a magazine or see it online or on TV then it is not true and does not exist?
As of the I-phone, if you do some research, you will find that Apple was really mad at a pic that came out on the internet before the launch of the I-phone, because somebody on the set of an R8 "movie shoot" had an I-phone. Would that be an unofficial announcement linking Audi and Apple in the mind of viewers?

And mr BMW4me4ever, which BMW are compatible, the X5 and the 3 series have just been redesigned, so it would be expected. How about the other models in the line up?
As far as Audi, all MMi models are compatibles, and those cars have been on the market for a while (A8-A6) and the Q7 was out way before the I-phone.
By the way any Raytel bluetooth owners, my 400 on my Allroad links very well with the I-phone. FYI.

all BMW's are compatable ... Have always been so .. Also, dont require the idrive to be compatable, just BMW assist. BMW assist with Bluetooth technology is standard on all 5-series ( since 2007 ), 7-series, 6-series. It is part of the premium package for the 3-series, X5, X3 & Z4 ...

Okay then, a quick question:
Would you buy a car (£25,000-£90,000) based on whether or not it was compatible with your phone (£200-£400).... because to me this whole argument is a little pointless.
