INGOLSTADT, Germany — Audi will unveil a concept version of its Multi Media Interface on January 7 at the 2014 International CES.

The Audi virtual cockpit will also be on display.

Audi said the two promise to make operations "faster, simpler and therefore safer" for drivers.

The Audi MMI operating system lets the driver manage vehicle systems including navigation, entertainment, interior and ride dynamics on models with Audi driver select.

Audi did not disclose when the upgraded MMI system will roll out on a production vehicle, but it noted that "the next generation is already at the starting blocks."

Edmunds says: Expect Audi's next MMI system to put a premium on intuitive operation.
