Audi Q7 V12 TDI gets 21 mpg and costs $184,000
We first saw the production version of the Audi Q7 V12 TDI quattro at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. At Paris next month, Audi will show the model once again in its final series phase with sales kicking off later in Oct. Prices will start at 130,600 Euros ($184,120 USD)
Known as the “world’s most powerful diesel-engine SUV” the Audi Q7 V12 TDI 6-cylinder engine producing 500-hp with a maximum torque of a whopping 758 lb-ft. That gives it the ability to go form rest to 62 mph in 5.5 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph. Even with that impressive performance the Q7 V12 TDI returns a fuel-economy of 21 mpg. Inside Audi offers a DVD navigation system, Bose Surround Sound system with CD changer, Bluetooth, a tire pressure monitoring system and a tailgate that opens and closes electrically.
Audi, so far, has no plans to sell the Q7 V12 TDI on the stateside but we will be getting the 233-hp Q7 3.0 TDI later this year.

if your concern is gas mileage when you buy anything with a 12 banger in it then you got issues....I thought all VW's hada W12 not a V12 but I know all you Audi/VW buff's are going to be all over this comment about why they call it a v12 and not a W12

VW & Audi did use a W12. THis is a diesel so it has no relation to those previous engines, hence this V12 is a Vee-Twelve.

how in the world did they get 21mpg out of a massive vehicle with a powerful V12?
pretty remarkable.

actually amazinBimmer: I would agree with you on this but it seems like you know nothing about torque. this thing has 500hp and 758 lb-ft do you know if you were in that truck without a headrest I would probably snap your neck by just flooring the pedal at a standstill position. I dont think you understand what kind of power that is but your useless comments havent failed since you signed up with A.S.

I doubt the X6 will blow it away. Maybe you should way to see the Q7 V12 TDI get tested before you say something.
It's much bigger inside, more luxurious and still ends up with better fuel economy. Sounds like excellent use of technology to me.

Whats been up with Audi lately and the OUTRAGEOUS pricing? The A5 is overpriced, the RS6 is overpriced, and now this Q7...
A4 and A6 and the A8 and R8 are fine.

i was thinking the same exact thing. i used to love Audi until lately. for the price of this Q7 i would just go with a Gallardo (lp 560-4) and like b7fan said "if I am spending money on a 12 cylinder I dont give a damn about my gas mileage". i know the Gallardo is a 10 cylinder but the price is damn near comparable.

NEVER convert European prices to US prices.
If the Q7 V12 TDI came to the US (it's unlikely) it would probably cost only 125,000.
A Gallardo LP 560-4 costs 260,000 in the UK for example. So it's pointless to compare prices like that.

I wasnt even talking about the price...i was talking about performance but your stupid a$$ is still thinking inside the box which is OK for people who ride the small yellow bus to school....your comments show that you were not allowed on the big yellow bus because your a$$ is doing all the talkin for you and your brain has shut down after 5th grade...but answer this how do you figure a X6 5.0i would beat this truck because the x6 is .2 seconds faster in the 0-60 times. I dont understand how the X6 4.4 would beat this and if your little brain forgot while reading my comment I am talking about performance NOT price try to get your comment right this time

@ the troll known as the amazinDouchebag,
I've asked several times before and you have yet to answer: WHY DON'T YOU HAVE AN AGENTSPACE!?
You aren't scared, are you?
You always claim that you are richer, better than us, own different BMWs, but you never SHOW us.
You seem so concerned as to what other people drive and how much money they make, but you never TELL us anything about yourself.
IF YOU AREN'T GOING TO SHUT UP, THEN PUT UP -- show us the goods and prove us to be all wrong and inferior to yourself by posting your AgentSpace with ACTUAL PHOTOS OF YOUR WEALTH AND BMWs THAT ARE ACTUALLY YOURS!
Need other cliché to entice you:
"You talk the talk, but can you walk the walk?"
"Don't start none, won't be none."
All the yakking that you do without the proof, INVALIDATES YOU AND VALIDATES EVERYONE THAT IGNORE YOU, INSULTS YOU AND HUMILIATES YOU, whether it be in person or on the internet, publicly or privately.
Even other trolls are ashamed of you.
Without the proof to backup your claims, you are merely suckling the teat of a biplor's imagination desperate to wean you off, physically ill from the stench of the excrement that spews from the abandoned sewage plant you call your mouth.

Like I said your family was burned by VW and now you want your revenge on this site GO GET A ROLE MODEL.....

Just another example of Audi taking a good idea and making themselves look rediculous. The price is rediculous, 21mpg is not really all that special, and for 500hp to only be 5.5 seconds is a joke. This is like the RS6 with more horsepower than everything in its class and still slower. For $184,000 I would rather by a Nissan GTR and an ML63. And will still have about 10k to spare for gas.

let's compare (German market data)
ML 63
0-100 (62 mph): 5 seconds
fuel consumption: 16.5 liters per 100 km (14.25 mpg average of city and highway)
5 passanger seating capacity and 188 inches long
101,804 Euro starting price (144,124 US dollars)
Audi Q7 V12 TDI
0-100 km/h: 5.5 seconds
fuel consumption: 11.3 liters per 100 km (20.82 mpg) 46% more mpgs than the ML63
7 passanger seating capacity and 200 inches long
130,600 Euro starting price
and the RS6 is faster than anything else in its class, there are many German tests that had the RS6 go up against the M6/E63, the RS6 was quicker than both.

you are right, a more realistic price if it comes to the US will be close to $110,000-$120,000 right?

Most of the time when you take the Euro-price and put a $ in front of it you get more or less the US price.
Example
The Audi RS4 cost 65K euros, in the US it cost 66k dollars.
The S5 costs 56k Euros, again around the same price in dollars in the US.

I would rather spend $184,000 on this than $100,000 on a Lexus LX. Audi has never really made a big fuss about their superb interiors and for that they are under-rated and doesn't get enough attention. Although it is very steep in pricing the few will buy this for bragging rights. It is very nicely built as expected from Audi, solid as they come. If it was $130 it would be more reasonable and justifiable. One thing's for sure, it is destined for Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Realistically if I wanted performance in an SUV it would be the ML63. Don't have to love it but you have to respect it.

184k and 0-60 in 5.5 with 21 mpg. There are 50k-75k autos you could buy that get 10mpg and save the difference. Instead of padding Audis pocket.

Why would you title it this way? There are too many idiots on this website who think that this would be an American price. Euro prices should NEVER, EVER be converted directly to $ because most European cars that come to the US end up at about HALF the price.
