Audi RS4 takes a stab at the new M3 in an ad campaign

We love finding funny car ads on the internet. While at first when we saw this one by Audi, we had a little giggle but right away the smirks fell off our faces and we were saddened to see how the brand new BMW M3 was treated during the shoot of this print ad.

very tacky marketing.

and innappropriate for a brand of audi's stature to be referencing a direct competitor--especially with a high-end model like the RS. that's very toyota corolla.

While the scenario in the ad may seem farfetched...it's certainly fair to propose a situation where you are in New York after a heavy snowfall that just left over 6" of white powder and you are trying to make it up Hammersly Ave in the Bronx. I would put my bets on the Audi making it up that hill before the M3. If I were to live in Florida...well I could care less about Audi's Quattro system.

I lived 6 miles from the nearest piece o gritted tarmac with a 25 year old 3 speed automatic 220bhp RWD car, a 4 year daily commute, from hot tarmac to intake deep floods to snowdrift covered ice... Maybe I'm in the minority of "PEOPLE THAT CAN ACTUALLY DRIVE WITHOUT ELECTRONIC AIDS" but I managed fine without Quattro! When our work car park ices over I've seen Honda prelude 2.2si handle the surface better than the MD's Audi!

As with most things (lap times, 0-60 times, slalom times, adverse road condition handling, stopping distances..... etc. etc..) The drivers ability has as much to do with the outcome of such situations as how good the car is. Nose-in, back end out, 4 wheel drift, even at 5mph is immensly satisfying, the only saving grace of FWD is lift-off oversteering, which on most road cars only works in the wet/mud/snow. I love RWD, AWD with gizmos is just a little tame for me, maybe I'll change my mind when I get old!
