Audi TT to be Replaced by R3
Speculations say that the Audi TT loved by many, will come to the end of its lifecycle. In place of this is rumoured to be the Audi R3.
The R3 is said to be designed alongside Volkswagen which is due for a conceptual preview at the LA Auto Show in November this year. The R3 will most likely be powered by a range of 4-cylinder engines in order to stay out of the Porche Boxster territory and ensure a unique target market.
If this is the case, expect similar performance as per the current 4-cylinder range Audi offers, which includes a 125bhp 2.0L TDI all the way to a 280bhp 2.0L TFSI engine.

I think it's a better naming scheme to call it an R model but that it loses some name recognition. In the end, I think losing the power of the name TT will be a mistake.

Looks like a sky/solstice and doesn't look like it will be as functional as the TT. IMO, axing the TT is a mistake as it is largely seen as a modern automotive icon.

BTW: I can't believe almost everyone agrees that axing the TT would be a mistake. Concurrence is rare on this site...

LOL...very true...very true :D
What I have in mind is that they return the TT back into its feminine looks, while this R3 becomes a guy's toy. What do you guys think?

I think the TT name may not be helping sales...as they are slow movers. I think a rename/rebrand is what the new TT needs except this design looks like it lived near nuclear radiation

I think Audi should keep the TT name even if it's mid engined. Also I hope the styling improves from this proposal. It seems to me Audi could keep a few TT design que's in a mid engined design.

Well I'm sure it won't look anything like this photoshop for one.
Secondly I think it makes sense to drop the TT name in favor of the R3 badge due to the fact that it's rumored to be a mid-engine car, & therefore could act as a baby brother to the R8 & join in a possible future line-up of mid-engine R models.

The TT is great, but with Porsche's ownership of VW/Audi, it makes no sense for the company to compete with itself.
Porsche needs to modernize its' line up, not to kill itself off with Audis. I doubt the R8 will have a successor, for the same reason.

I have owned the Audi TT since 2001. Quattro Roadster Heaven. But this, no. It sucks. I looked at the 2008 and it was too big. Too. So, now this design. They lost me. Its my daughter's Miata.
