Audi could build A4 and Q5 in US
Audi CEO Rupert Stadler hinted back in March that U.S. production could be a possibility for the premium brand at Volkswagen’s new plant, which was confirmed this month to be constructed in Tennessee.

Latest reports are now indicating that executives are seriously considering building the Audi A4 and Q5 models at the Chattanooga plant, with volumes of between 50,000 and 80,000 units needed to justify U.S. production.

Executives had also considered building the VW Touareg/Audi Q7/Porsche Cayenne line of SUVs in the U.S. but have since ruled out the option due to the lack of suitable suppliers.

This thing would sell like hot cakes if built competitively in a North American plant.

Yawn!!!

The Q5 is nice but when Audi strips it of all its cool features (US doesn't get any cool features), all we'll end up with is a German Version of the Acura MDX.

And I'm willing to bet the farm that the U.S version will get Audi's tired-and-overdue-for-a-replacment 3.2l V6

Actually the Q5 in the States will get ALL the features available in Europe (maybe not the cooling seats), including the 2nd generation MMI system.. it will be leap years ahead of the RDX.

Yes it will get the very good NEW 3.2 V6 but also TDi and S-Tronic.

Actually, the segment that the Q5 competes in is really hot. It is a crossover and they do well.

I don't think the Q5 will sell like hotcakes it is 2009 not 1999, you have to wonder why Audi famous for its Quatrro 4 wheel drive has waited so long to create a Q5 SUV, if they had built this Q5instead of those Allroad Wagons Audi would have sell more cars in the US.

I dunno I just drove down to Miami from Charlotte last week in our Mazda3 (36-38mpg ftw) and probably half the vehicles on the way down there where large SUVs, much larger than the Q5. Also I always see many Q7s in Miami.
