Audi dumps 'Technology Package' on Q7 SUV?
Dear 001,

i went to order an audi q7 3.6. I learned that Audi suspended its technology package on this model and the q7 4.2. my dealer said the camera was back order. Since they cancelled the whole technology package, you cannot have the keyless, side assist and other options. They do not know when this option will be back. They do not accept orders with this option anymore. I told my dealer I will purchase something else. Many other vehicles have those options and they cost twice as less. For example, the Mazda Cx-7 has all those options.

Can you investigate on the Q7 situation?

Ha ha... Q7 v. CX-7??? what are you smoking?

I dont care how many packages you add to the CX-7, its never going to be half an Audi...

How about this one? I was looking to get a Porsche 911, and got a Honda S2000 instead...I could get almost the same things for much less... What a dumb statement...

This guy is obviously a jackass. comparing the Q7 & CX-7, I mean, I know the names sound alike, but c'mon. Another giveaway was the "twice as less" comment. Maybe "half as much" would've worked better.

Go to Audiworld and to the Q7 forum, there you will find people with a lot of knowledge. From what I have heard there is a shortage of them because Audi did not expect that many people to order the Q7 Premium. BTW, the 3.6 will come towards the end of Summer, by that time everything will be sorted out. Plus you can try another dealer. BTW, the Q7 is 16 inches longer than the CX7, you can't really compare the two.

If you want to order a Q7 with the Tech package let me know I will get you one (just have 2 wait a month os so.

MAzda? Come on!!

That camera is great in the Audi. The 2 parking modes make it so easy to park. During the Q7 launch they had a Q7 with blocked windows and no mirrors and has us park parallell park the car and it was very easy. Nice job Audi.

But if you are buing a car just for the camera then you need a better salesperson.

I'd rather wait a few months for a new German vehicle anyway - to give time for the manufacturer to work out the bugs - something which they tend to do after production is fully ramped up.

I like the Q7 and think it will be a hit. If Audi, ever wants to catch up to BMW, they cant afford glitches like this when bringing out a new model. I think this will be a pretty big set back for the Q7. It will push this car back in time for the New 2007 X5 to come out. The best thing for Audi, was to release their truck first and gain momentum.

audi4ever,

It appears that no one is starting a fight at all.

That's the issue with these 'audi4ever', 'bmw4me4ever' types, they are so fixated on one brand that they often lose sense of reality and common sense.

So you call it a 'supplier shortage', he calls it a 'glitch'. And? It may not be a technical glitch on Audi's part, but it is still a marketing 'glitch'.

You needed a whole defensive post because you were unhappy with a choice of wording?

Well here's why i'm posting: To bring to everyones attention that it's okay to be partial to more than one brand. If you gave yourself a neutral name, then maybe people wouldn't put you in the 'Audi Fanboy' category.

Gee, if you only respond to the word Audi (or BMW, for that matter) then go join a Audi/BMW forum. At least there you won't ber polluted with news concerning OTHER car manufacturers.

It's great to love a brand, it's even better to lighten up.

audi4ever,

here we go. loose or lose? how bout the Audi S4 engine that had software problems when it first came out and the fact that Audi thought bout scrapping the engine all together with. Of course, since my brother is an Audi Mechanic for the last 4 years, I have plenty of insider info. Oh wait, how bout the Audi A6 and all the glitch problems they had with transmission and electronics in that car ...

Here is the deal. Audi makes a good car overall. The A4 practically has single handedly saved them from extinction. The A8 is a very nice car, but a little pricey and has a horrible resale value. Hopefully, Audi's brand will improve and create a competitve market with BMW. I believe that Audi has a much better shot of doing this than Mercedes. Right now we are noticing a switch in power in the luxury car segment. Away from the ultra-luxury to more of the refined sports sedan segment. With that being said, Audi will never be on the same par with BMW.

In regards to BMW, the 7-series when it debuted had a horrible time with the electronics in the car and the idrive. Since then it is, according to JD power & Associates the #1 premium luxury sedan .... 2 years running. The transmission software pretty much only plagued the 7-series in 2002 and 2003, and the 6-series in the very first models of 2004. Audi had a similar but more problematic issue in the early 90's with their transmission. What seperates BMW from Audi, is the unending versatility and their history in building uncompromising sports cars. BMW builds all their cars with the same premise in mind. Sports feel , handling , braking & power first luxury second. When you drive a BMW there is a enormous difference in the way it handles and feels then anyother luxury brand. Audi has a few cars that provide this feel, but not all of them. The Audi S4 is probably pound for pound one of the best cars Audi builds. Unfortunately, the A6 is too mundane and the regular A4 is not lively enough. All the BMW's leave the same fun to drive taste in you mouth when you are done driving them. This may not be for everyone, but BMW's are not for everyone either ......

a bmw fan saying audis are actually alright cars!!!!! what is going on!
i agree with your last statement though, bmws are always fun to drive, but a lot of people don't buy cars for that reason, and the more conservative styling of audi may have tempted buyers away from bmw. depreciation affects all big cars, the 7 series the most, as now you can buy (in the uk) a 745 for a quater of the original price, just 4 years on. an x5 is still worth half its price after 6 years. depreciation is great if you buy second hand, you get so much car for your money. to put it in comparison, buy a new 318 (tiny!) for the same price as a 4 year old 745. the 7 has way more equipment and kudos, but the 3 series is new. that's all you pay for (and a warranty). i don't think i will ever buy a new car, i don't see much point in it. you instantly lose the amount in tax (about 2000 pounds on the 318) and then coninue to lose money as the years go by. new 3 series? no thanks. second hand 7 for me please.
