Audi production successfully launched at India
Audi production successfully launched in India
-Indian market vital to Audi’s growth strategy
-First locally assembled Audi A6 cars received by Indian customers
-Audi to invest around 30 million euros by 2015
-Assembly of the new Audi A4 to follow starting in late 2008
Audi continues to make its mark in India’s flourishing growth market: the company with the four rings has now successfully started production for the Indian market of the world’s most successful luxury midsize sedan – the Audi A6 – at its Aurangabad site in the state of Maharashtra. By 2015, when more than 2,000 units of the A6 should be rolling off the line, Audi will have invested more than 30 million euros in production alone in India. Starting in late 2008, the new Audi A4 will also be assembled locally.
With this step Audi is continuing the company’s worldwide success story and growth trend, and is making a long-term investment in one of the world’s most promising automotive markets. “Starting our own production there is the best way to adequately serve such a promising growth market like India,” said Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG. “India is one of the components of our Strategy 2015, which aims to achieve sales of 1.5 million automobiles per year worldwide. We want to be the most successful premium brand in India as well.”

Indian elite consumers are way more saavy than this. benz has been local for 8 years and BMW has local manufacturing (not just assembly). Audi is priced 20-30% below comparable BMW models.

Well apparently they aren't more savvy than this. Why then would they allow Audi to assemble its products in India?
The Q7 will soon be manufactured in the U.S. just like the BMW X5 is.......Audi is growing amazinIdiot.

MichaelTaylor is an idiot. Audi will sell over 950,000 cars worldwide in 2007. Lexus is aiming for 500,000 cars sold worldwide in 2007.

germanut.. does it ever strike you that as a used camry salesman, posting stuff on this site it is you that is an idiot. Audi is going to fail in india becasue all they are doing in importing cars and assembling them domestically. unlike Benz and BMW who have major production facilities (and tax advantages), they pay very high escise taxes (up to 50 percent). INSPITE OF THIS, their cars are priced at a discount to the big boys. Point is they sell few cars becasue lof low brand power and becasue of lack of foresight and inveatment, they MAKE LESS money on every car to BOOT> can you get this?
have you told everybody what you drive.?

"Audi is going to fail in india becasue all they are doing in importing cars and assembling them domestically."
You'll be eating your words when they are successful there...
I don't understand you sometimes. You act as if you're a logical person, but you are just a hater. You don't allow yourself to see the clear things at hand. Audi is a powerful company. They make excellent products. It seems like it's very hard for you to accept that, and to be honest, I don't know why. If you were really a car enthusiast, you'd be rooting for them, as well as BMW.

"Point is they sell few cars becasue lof low brand power"
Also--what do you base this on? They haven't even STARTED selling cars there yet! And they are a HUGE brand force in China!
