Audi stopping RS4 production next month
Audi’s RS4 sedan holds a magical quality for its fans. A unique balance of price, performance, and luxury, the RS4 manages to carve out a unique niche in the tightly competitive luxury performance marketplace. Considering it’s based on a seven year old platform, the RS4 is a very impressive machine, however it has to make way for the new model based on Audi’s advanced MLP platform.

This isn’t the first time that we’ve heard rumors of RS4 production ending, however our friends at Autoblog.nl confirmed the story directly with Audi officials.

Again? So what's next, the RS6 or a new RS4?

stopping? you mean "cant sell anymore of this overpriced piece of front wheel drive"?. What a joke. Audi will never reach the halo status of the rs line line BMW has with "m".

bimmer - the car was so over priced that we got over sticker for most of our cars? idiot

The RS4 is the last year of a 6 year cycle for the A4. You can't make the RS4 if you don't have a car platform to build it on.

The RS6 is next followed but an RS5 and RS4 B8

all is well

It's not overpriced at all. It's better than the E60 M5 for $16K less. IMO it's the spiritual successor to the E39, because Audi doesn't use ridiculously complicated computer systems to make the car fun. It's just honest power and handling.

I dont get that article. and furthermore get the fact that amazinbimmer would not be able to hold up on a track with either of race-bred german vehicles.

This is exactly what I stated here before. The 2008 RS4 model will be a rare collectors item. What is currently on order will be it until the new S4/RS4 and or RS5 arrives stateside. It's not looking good for the RS6 coming to the states.

Why not? Are they not making a sedan at all? That would be extremely disappointing, and slightly contradictory, if they want to make a difference in the US market. The RS6 would be just another halo model for them.

It was a known fact that the RS4 will have just 2 years of production just like any other RS models before. Always have been and always will be limited.
So far Audi has never built 2 different RS at the same time!
It's time for the RS6 to be built.

could one of you poor mental midgets tell me.. how many RS4's were actually sold??.. I will prove to you in 30 seconds why its a piece of Shit and why it has to be marketed as a"limited edition". There is nothing ont hsi derived FWD origin car worth being "limited". its got crappy and marginal engineering, and a slab sided nose heavy design. can someone tell me why? hahah cause if it wasnt it would get shalacked once the audi morons shelled out the "over sticker".This thing's value would plunge like a rock!!. Actually it still will.

Actually, the only thing plunging is your brain.

AmazingLiar posts his lie of the day:

If Audi RS4's residual will plummet like a rock, the BMW M3 will fall like a clif....

Why, you ask?

The answer is because Audi's RS cars hold their values better than their BMW M counterparts. Just look at the previous RS6 and the new one as well as the current B7 RS4.

The only thing limited in this comparison between the M3 and the RS4 is the M3's wins over the RS4.

4 wins for the RS4 and only 2 for the BMW M3.

Alextx hit the nail on the head. I have been trying to explain for a long time Quattro GmBH does not share the same production cycle as a 'regular' auto company.
