I hooked up my accelerator to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.

Audi’s Mileage Marathon kicked off on Monday and the group has already traveled from New York to Washington. The whole event focuses around the Audi Q7 3.0 TDI which will go on sale in the U.S. earlier next year.

Audi says that from New York to Washington, the 3.0 TDI Q7 averaged a fuel-consumption of 7.4 liters per 100 kilometers (31.79 mpg). Other teams in the marathon managed to average between 28 mpg and 31 mpg. The 2009 Audi Q7 3.0 TDI is powered by a...

Wow, those numbers are petty impressive. The 335d is a little more powerful than that A4 3.0TDI but it only gets 36 mpg on the HIGHWAY. I'd sacrifice the 20 lbft for 10 average mpg. Hope it makes its way over to the states.

That is a big figure from a HUGE SUV. Who says size = bad mileage?

Any idea if those A4's are AWD? It would be even more impressive if they were. I mean, 39 average mpg from a 3800 lb sedan with 405 lbft of torque? I'm willing to bet it's just FWD though...

The A4 3.0 TDI is only available with quattro. Only the 2.0 TDI is as FWD.

where does this 'huge' thing keep coming from? must have seen this in at least a dozen reviews. huge compared to what? it has a big look, but it's actual size is average for its class. great mileage on the tdi, but this description is used for the gas version too.

I'd almost give my left foot for an A3 Tdi

What would you use to hit the clutch... I saw a Golf TDI on craigslist for $8k yesterday...very tempting.

Theres a chance that the 3rd pic on the right when you click on the site is the 495 near Kensington. Has any locals seen it?

I've been waiting for the Q7 3.0 TDI but had to get an XC90 for the family. With top safety, much better performance, efficiency and styling the Q7 is a much better deal.

I have not seen ANY other SUV, of any size match this performance or come even close. Great job Audi. With gas prices easing off they should start selling again.

That Q7 3.0TDI is a very good vehicle, Decent Acceleration, Tops out at 230kmh and Very Huge Range on a Tankful under Active Driving

And engine is not Too Noisy

And it is More Comfortable to do long distances in when compared to the Cayenne.

S-Line is a Must.

In the States, the Q7 3.0TDI will come standard with the S-Line Package!

I95..

Why is S-line a must. As far as i understand, the packages adds nothing to the performance of the vehicle, only garnish.

With the S-line exteriour package you can also order the S-line sports suspension. Atleast overhere in Europe.

Yeah, S-Line equipped cars have sportier suspensions. I've never driven an S-Line car myself so I can't compare, but I'd think it would be similar to the S4's suspension, which is firm but compliant.

interesting; The Audi TDI fleet just passed through Chicago this week. The new A4 looked great, in the flesh.

That is one nice looking, powerful, yet surprisingly efficient SUV. Why cant ALL SUV's be like this?

I didn't know quite how good the A4 3.0TDI was. It sounds like perfection. Awesome engine, great mileage, great looks, spacious, fun, AWD, and not too expensive. I'll take it.

Funny how GM struggles getting 20mpg out of the hybrid with continual variable 1 speed transmission. If audi used a hybrid TDI with the CVT 45mpg does seem possible.
