More GM crap? GM will be dead and gone soon. Benz and BMW will be the #1 #2 brands out of everyone.

Dont start this again dude, Mercedes Benz and BMW are NEVER going to be the top selling brands in the world. Maybe a Asian manufacturer, or Volkswagen(the largest automaker in Europe), but not MB and BMW they are too low volume and expensive for that to ever happen. Also, if GM continues making great product like the beautiful CTS from now on, we will see GM survive well into the forseeable future.

BenzW124, it's asshole comments like yours that help give Benz a bad name. I predict that GM will be the only domestic car manufacturer to survive intact. BTW, both the 2008 Mercedes C-Class and Cadillac CTS are on my shopping list along with Mercedes' coming GLK. Mercedes practices blackmail marketing by forcing customers to pay extra if they want a paint color other than 2 or 3 ugly colors that are standard on the C-Class. B-Class customers in Canada are forced to buy a weird sunroof as part of a really stupid and expensive package if they want a power front passenger seat with proper adjustments. The standard tire pressure warning system on the S-Class does not identify exactly which tire needs attention -- how stupid is that for a car in that price range?

If Mercedes does not reform its marketing approach, it will lose sales to companies like VW and GM who may eventually acquire it.

It's really funny to read some of the wholly uninformed and idiotic comments, mostly from euro's or eurosnobs. A couple of facts,

Europe is non-competative globally and has been losing share im terms of global GDP for some time now. Europe is still and industrial economy while the U.S. is a post industrial economy. Europe cannot compete with asia on price and cannot compete with the U.S. technologically (look at Arirbus and the A380 fiasco) and more recently on price.

It is well known that the key market for europe's autos is the U.S. and that as soon as the U.S. enacts national health care, europe will begin to move most production to the U.S. out of high cost socialist europe.

Finally, the U.S. auto industry was a badly run industry for many years... not any more. Europe's days as a center of automobile production are very numbered and those in the know realize it.

GM is definitely in the best shape of the three right now. Their new products just keep getting better, their quality is going up in the charts, and they might be profitable this year. They actually have a DIRECTION.

Ford, on the other hand, suffers recall after recall. Their new vehicles are unimpressive and they have to shed luxury brands to stay afloat. They have no idea how to market their European models here, like GM is doing.

Chrysler? Nobody knows. But we do know that Chrysler is certainly not as large as GM or Ford.

GM is far from profitable... If they report profits in 07, they will end up going back to "fix" the books, to reflect the real numbers...

Low volume cars like the CTS is not what is going to do it for GM. They have to work on the base, like cobalts, G6, etc...

GM has been idling for years but has finally awoken. They have the experience and the know how. I'd put my money that GM will again be the top dog. They are coming back with a vengeance.
