Ladies and Gentleman the wait to get behind the new RS6 Avant packing all its 580 horsepower in a twin-turbo V10 is over!

Autocar has just driven the new bahn-stormer from Ingolstadt and came away thoroughly impressed by the way the car demolishes straights with its much improved handling and dynamic abilities. The RS6 has the torque over such a wide range of RPM that pinning yourself to the back of your seat is just a right-foot press away.

The car is also a massive dynamic improvement over the previous RS6. This new RS6 Avant has Audi's new 40:60 rear biased Quattro system that gives the handling a huge improvement over the previous rather numb-RS6.

The new RS6's handling is so improved that Audi says it can lap the Nurburgring 20 seconds faster than the old RS6. The car gives the driver a very confident feel behind the wheel and the RS6 no longer feels like simply a numb, straight-line devouring weapon, that hated twisty roads like most, if not all previous super-fast RS models from Audi before the B7 RS4 came out.

Audi has finally improved the RS6's handling and provided the car with a whopping increase in horsepower over the previous version....

The end result is a car from Audi that challenges the BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG like they have never been challenged before in this segment. The straight-line numbers were expected by everyone after reading the huge power and torque numbers.

However, the RS6 is a much improved dynamic car than its previous model and likely enough of an improvement in the dynamic area to make it a nail-biting comparison between it and the BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG.
