Autocar drives the new Audi RS6 Avant!
Ladies and Gentleman the wait to get behind the new RS6 Avant packing all its 580 horsepower in a twin-turbo V10 is over!

Autocar has just driven the new bahn-stormer from Ingolstadt and came away thoroughly impressed by the way the car demolishes straights with its much improved handling and dynamic abilities. The RS6 has the torque over such a wide range of RPM that pinning yourself to the back of your seat is just a right-foot press away.

The car is also a massive dynamic improvement over the previous RS6. This new RS6 Avant has Audi's new 40:60 rear biased Quattro system that gives the handling a huge improvement over the previous rather numb-RS6.

The new RS6's handling is so improved that Audi says it can lap the Nurburgring 20 seconds faster than the old RS6. The car gives the driver a very confident feel behind the wheel and the RS6 no longer feels like simply a numb, straight-line devouring weapon, that hated twisty roads like most, if not all previous super-fast RS models from Audi before the B7 RS4 came out.

Audi has finally improved the RS6's handling and provided the car with a whopping increase in horsepower over the previous version....

The end result is a car from Audi that challenges the BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG like they have never been challenged before in this segment. The straight-line numbers were expected by everyone after reading the huge power and torque numbers.

However, the RS6 is a much improved dynamic car than its previous model and likely enough of an improvement in the dynamic area to make it a nail-biting comparison between it and the BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG.

With the Audi S6 being the only car out of the trio of it, the BMW M5, and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG to never finish in last place with one first place finish and one second place finish in the Motortrend and Car and Driver comparison tests, this RS6 will surely give the other German bahn-stormers performance that they will be fighting to match.

Autocar believes if you are looking for a warp-speed wagon that can eat up straights faster than you can think about it, need room for 4 or passengers and ample cargo-room for such daily necessities as groceries then there is no better new car available than the Audi RS6 Avant.

Note to Mercedes and BMW: Read the previous paragraph and start to worry.

Did I mention there is a 60 kg lighter RS6 saloon coming out later this year....look out BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, Audi didn't hold back at all straight-line performance wise or dynamically on a twisty road with this new RS6.

It is apparent that the magic wand of Quattro GmbH has once again waved its magic wand over an Audi, this time the RS6 and the results are nothing short of amazing.

First the B7 Audi RS4, then the absolutely amazing R8, now the excellent RS6.....

I can't wait for the upcoming Audi R8 with V10, the Audi RS5, the TT-RS and most of all the Audi R8 V12 TDI!!!

Audi is surely stepping its game up to a new level in terms of performance.

BTW--looks fantastic in the shots. Even better than the press pictures, which (in a strange turn for Audi) actually looked good.

The Avant is, IMO, much better-looking than the sedan. I wish we got it here, although I can't say I would be unhappy with either.

"Not enough? The new car’s development boss, Stephan Reil, says he’s seen 205mph during prototype testing on a deserted autobahn in Germany."

Does that not speak for itself?

The current S6 at 75 bhp less than the M5 is giving the M5 fits in comparisions, so imagine the new RS6 in sedan form. The "magic wand" of quattro GmbH is definitely working overtime.

faster than a R8 maybe faster than a Gallardo, however this car or the sedan will not be a sales success. In fact I have only seen 1 Audi RS6 ever in 2004, and I live in Miami FL. I have seen about 3 RS4's and about 6 audi A8's and not including dealerships,

Larry you are obviously a real idiot. Of course living in Miami, FL you will not see as many Audis compared to if you were living in the northeast.

I suggest you head over to The Collection and ask them about their skyrocketing sales for Audi....the new Q7 is a huge hit in the Miami market.

Just because you say the RS6 won't be a sales success doesn't mean the RS6 won't be a sales success.

Next time, get some factual evidence and maybe people will believe your claim.

Again that is your opinion amazinIdiot.

Since Audi is increasing production of their RS models, this car will be a success. Read some Audi news before you make such uninformed comments.
