VW's Scirocco is solid and fast

More reasons why U.S. buyers should get a shot at it

Ulrich Hackenberg, Volkswagen's head of development, has invited us to the Nürburgring to participate in the last shake down test of the reborn Scirocco prior to the start of European sales this summer.

The Scirocco's return is big news for Volkswagen. Introduced in the midst of the 1974 oil crisis, the original Golf-based coupe is still an icon in its homeland, where its name carries greater weight than its predecessor, the Corrado. More than 500,000 of the first-generation model were sold between 1974 and 1981, some 150,000 of which made their way to the United States.
