BMW 3-Series GT Arriving in 2013

After revealing their first attempt at a modern GT at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, the BMW 6 Series GT has been confirmed for 2011.

While the Bavarian auto makers are planning a similar treatment for the baby bimmer, the 3 Series that should see the light of day sometime in 2013.

Sized somewhere between an SUV and a wagon, the future BMW 3 Series GT will be with 15 inches longer than the standard model and offer the added bonus of more headroom due to the shooting brake layout.

Call it a sport wagon, sportback, GT - whatever you want. I'm all in favor of cars like this that give you sleek styling, high performance, respectable cargo capacity, and decent headroom.

Guys - in case you're wondering why I'm always harping on the headroom issue, it's because I'm not only tall (6'4") but long-waisted as well. Guys like Agent001 who are as tall (or slightly taller) than me can fit in cars that won't fit me because of my long torso.

this doesnt make sense to me whats wrong with making the 5 series wagon look nicer....why this??????????????i thought they would stop at the X6 but this is getting to be to much with all of these PAV's,SAV's,SUV,MPV's...SAY LA VEE's(a little 90's humor) come on.....WHY DOESNT BMW LAY OFF OF ALL OF THIS UTILITY CRAP AND REDO THE 8 SERIES PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE!!!!! you guys are wasting time

For me BMW is losing focus and getting into the mold of Mercedes. Soon there will be lots of BMW for everyone in the world.

I am super interested to know where you a saw an actual BMW 3-Series GT. Oh wait , what's that? You say that it won't even be introduced until 2013 - FOUR years from now. Seriously dude, what would possess you to comment on a nonexistent car?

At some point, should we ask if BMW can have too many models based on a single platform? 328i sedan, 328ix sedan, 328i coupe, 238ix coupe, 328i wagon, 328ix wagon, 328i conv, 335i sedan, 335ix sedan, 335i coupe, 335ix coupe, 335i conv, 335d, M3, X3;

AND NOW the 335GT!

Anyone interested in the 335iT (truck), 335iB (bus), or the 335iLM (lawn mower)?

You are totally on the right track, except that all of the cars you mentioned are 3 series. The real magic is to take a platform and turn it into actual different models: Highlander - ES - RX - Camry - Matrix - Venza - and so on. Crossing brands is when the cars really start getting good!

BMW has lost its mind. They're embarking on too many niche models to retain any sense of exclusivity. Actually, "exclusivity" with BMW disappeared a long time ago, but the brand is truly getting diluted with all these variations of each Series.

Creating new and unique solutions for consumers is a positive thing. It takes creativity, thoughtfulness, and balls. Far from dilution, it builds and reinforces BMW's clear position as a premium auto innovator. FYI, diluting happens when a builder takes one platform, such as the Camry, and turns it into seventeen different variations each with less character than the last.

BMW wants to capture more of the senior crowd with these vehicles. They have realized over the last few years that the market for stricly sporty cars won't be enough
for growth in the future.

I really don't know what happens with BMW to much model, now the 3 serie GT , in my opinion this 5 series GT is a great mistake and waste of money. They need to change the design of the grille and the front part of the new generations of car. The angle in this grille part is not fine. Unlike the Z4 ,I consider the front part almost perfect with perfect angles. This car is a beauty.
