BMW 335I VS MERCEDES BENZ C350 SPORT---COMPARISON TEST
THIS IS A COMPARISON OF THE NEW C350 AND THE 335I. THE C350 LOOKS REALL NICE IN THESE PICS, THE INTERIOR STILLS LOOKS A LITTLE OUT OF PLACE BUT I DO LIKE THE TONE ON TONE COLOR SCHEME, AND IM SURE IT JUST LOOKS CHEAP BECAUSE THE STYLING IS BLAND BECAUSE THE INTERIOR HAS NICE DETAILS SO IM SURE ITS HIGH QUALITY. THE 335I WINS THIS TEST, BUT THE C350 IS DEFINETELY ONE TO SHOP FOR THOSE LOOKING IN THIS SEGMENT Read Article

Both are, of course, fine cars.
One annoying styling point about the Mercedes, however, is the raised hood compared to the BMW which makes the car a little more "blocky" in front. This is due to the latest Euro zone pedestrian safety standards, but I guess the next BMW 3 series will have the same problem.

Why even bother comparing these 2 models when their goals are clearly different?

C350: Buyer wants a "Benz" look and feel to impress the neighbors, but would like it to be sporty.

335i: Buyer wants the best sporting sedan for $40,000. It's all about the drive.

Of course the 335i is going to win when judged based on driving measures.

You really think the BMW driver is not 'trying to impress the neighbors'...the majority of BMW owners are just like any other premium brand owner, image is very high on the list and the sporty drive is only a plus...for the few enthusiasts, yes performance is important and BMW is the better choice..

I never thought I'd say this, but I like the BMW interior over the Mercedes interior.

Agree. However, MB got the cupholder designed right :-)

LITTLE OUT OF PLACE ?

Please just for once open that C's interior pic.
And be honest.

Whole interior is just bland and crap.Steering wheel is the funniest,Center console buttons are cheap looking and that plastic cover of the pop-up screen is the ugliest i have seen.Yuck.

Even the Previous C's interor is better than this crap.

The interior of the C350 is brilliant. Everything feels right..; pfff I already said it so many times but you guys won't listen. Except cawimmer.

Exactly. I've sat in the new C-class many times (basically everytime I visit my dealer - which has become a bit of a friend lately) and although I agree the overall design is not really screaming it all feels exquisite. I mean the Comand-knob alone makes all the right clicking noises and the dials are beautiful. Not to mention the high-resolution pop-up screen. Also you will notice that every button in the C-class feels the same when you push it. It's a great car overall, a true premium Benz.

well, edmunds thinks the look is 'luxurious.' looks promising to me. but i'll wait to see it in person as good interior shots are rare.

Definitly the BMW is the winner here, no question asked at all. This new C class, is just ugly from all sides, in and out.

Jugnu.

You proove the point exactly as to how niave people can be. "Center console buttons are cheap looking". You've used the word LOOKING. You CANNOT make a judgement off that mate, you've clearly not/don't want listened to anyone like Rupert who have actually SAT in the car. That means that they have experienced the interior, touched the buttons, not just looked. And Rupert said it's of very high quality. Before making retard comments, get the hell off your ass and go sit in one, maybe even drive it instead of looking at pictures like you do for women.

the interior of the BMW looks exactly the same as every other bmw I've driven and owned. I feel like it's prehistoric now. My friends 03 325i looks like that, my friends 03 m3 looks like that, my moms 06 x3 looks like that, my uncles 03 525i looks like that, the only one that doesn't look like that is my aunts 745i. The merc's center console does look a bit weird and thats because it's missing a display right above the cd player. It looks like a cadillac cts which is a horrible thing, the lcd pop out is way cool though and everything else in the car is amazing. This will probably be my next car, because it's finally a return to a masculine c-class body like the w202's and unlike the previous w203's.

Oh and another thing, the back end of the 3-series is absolute rubbish, kills the whole exterior look of the car. If you think otherwise you're being completely ignorant because you know it's bad but can't get yourself to admit it. The back end of the coupe though... absolute perfection.

styling is subjective, that has nothing to do with ignorrance, but it is "ignorrant" to now know that

Edmunds already said C350 is ugly, cheap, weak, expensive in the C350 full test, why bothered to do this test?

Or, they should've used a BMW 328 instead.

328 is far away from the 6 seconds 0-60 boy!

The 328 is the old 231 hp engine that we got in the E46 330i and in that (slightly lighter) car it did 0-62.1 in about 6.3 seconds with the manual transmission.

Get a Lexus IS350. The IS350 already owns the BMW 335i in every aspect except magic feel.

the is isnt competition for the 335i it has lost many test to the 330i, its a small lexus that drives like a big car, with a cheap interior, oh i forgot it does have alot of horsepower...lmao

The IS350 has numb steering and is BORING to drive compared with the 335i.
And IMO, the 335i has a more original design.

Keep dreaming david.

The 330i would be a much better comparison. Mercedes now has a huge gap between the C350 and C63 (272 hp - 457 hp). But I heard they're working on a whole range of new engines and the range topper is going to be the C400 Turbo (yes.. like in the old days).

Why did this have to turn into a debate about the C-Class interior's "quality?" Nobody cares about the "quality" yet. The assertion is that the interior looks lackluster, not 'feels' lackluster, regardless of the very owner of this site making that separate assertion...

Neither car does anything for me. Give me a BMW 135 and I'll be on my way. Or better yet a lexus ES250. The Lexus ES250 was the best car ever made.

Czelinski

Till now i haven't driven it but in 1 or 2 weeks i will manage to drive one and then will tell u more about it.

Remind u i own 2 showrooms here in Dubai,UAE.I mean i am here in the market, there are many New Cs around.
Testing a new car is nothing for me.If i wanted i already would have tried one but i was never intrested in it.

C180 here in UAE from starts at 180K Dirhams that is 48K USD.

At this price point it is more than 7-8K USD than the second most expensive BMW.Therefore i expect a lot and when it's an MB really a lot.

The 3 series is a car of an enthusiast.
The C is a person who wants the prestige of a Mercedes, and wants more luxury than sport.

The C's interior is very disappointing though.
IMO.

Formula1,

I meant the design is disappointing.
I know that the quality of the interior is top-notch, just like the old C-Klasse I had before the A4

IM a BMW hardcore but I hate the interior without the screen. It just looks like it has something missing... terrible! I would say learn how to use the idrive instead of buying the interior without a screen!

The 3 series has a more handsome front, the C class has a more handsome rear. Now the interior in the C class looks better than that cheap interior in the 3 series. But with the screen, the 3 series totally wins.

Autospies used the 4dr 335i, numbers vary on the 335i 2 door coupe. 2 dr is 2 inches longer and weighs less, that's the car they should have done the side by side with.!
