BMW's all new flagship 7-series, this time in short wheelbase 750i form, was recently tested by the Edmunds Insideline guys. Their verdict: BMW has built a car that rivals the $37,000 more expensive Mercedes-Benz's S63 AMG power-sedan for a price of $89,870, which is less than the Mercedes-Benz S550.

The highlights are the BMW's 400 horsepower twin-turbo V8 that delivers effortless acceleration, excellent handling which makes the driver feel as if he/she were driving a much smaller car and a higher quality interior with surprisingly good ergonomics.

The complaints are few, if any, including fussy throttle tip-in but that's about it.

So BMW has created a flagship sedan combining a 0-60 time of 5.2 seconds, excellent handling, top-notch quality, and ergonomics for the price that undercuts its largest competitor in this segment.

Congratulations to BMW for this impressive achievement. However, Audi has been working hard on their upcoming A8 which will feature a sharper and more striking exterior design with an even higher quality interior and sportier handling thanks to the sport differential and ABS systems so the competition is promising to come prepared.

But for now.....the BMW 7-series is king of its class
