BMW Driver Follows GPS and Ends Up on Train Tracks
A 64 year old man ended up on the train tracks in front of a train station by following the GPS system in his brand new BMW 5-Series. Supposedly the old man didn’t understand the navigation correctly, made a wrong turn and ended up on the tracks. He followed the tracks until he ended up in front of a train station where he realized exactly what he had done. Read Article

A perfect display of the intelligence of your typical BMW driver. Contrarily, he was old, but still had the useless mind of the a yuppy.

tell that to all the rich executives who drive them. And then do an IQ test and compare who's smarter.

????????????? that makes no sense.. the navigation was already in use. you dont need to keep messing with the i-drive after a destination is entered.. wow..

Germannut, what you are basically saying is that most bmw drivers are pretty stupid and an outdated or incorrect NAV DVD could have nothing to do with something making a wrong turn. pathetic, shameless hating going on.

I just have to comment on this topic. I've been reading all the replies to this article and the only thing that I can think about is: Why would you actually follow the navigation when it tells you to drive on the railroad tracks. I know that I would not drive ON THE RAILROAD TRACKS!. I don't know what to think about people that will follow directions that are clearly the wrong thing to do, then do it anyway.

Isn't that what a lot of BMW customers do? They don't know why, but they buy them anyway because they're told of some "magical feel".

Ohh i get it.. so because 1 old man didnt understand GPS, that means all BMW drivers are idots.

In other news a guy with a toyota crashed through my gate. All Toyota drivers are threfore recless and bad drivers so it must mean the brand sucks.
-only used toyota for an example, dont mean anything

"What is it that people have against BMWs? As soon as people get the slightest of chances they start bashing them! Come on people! They are cutting edge and very good cars!"

It's not the cars, it's the owners... 85% of them are self-centered, arrogant people who don't actually know how to drive, but bought the car to pose. I know you're not part of that bad image.

Again, if he could not understand the sat-nav he is a moron. What part of, "turn right or, exit right" can you not understand.

Damn old fart with the mind of a yuppy.

Funny Enough

Once on my way from New York to Atlanta the Sat Nav system on the Navigator I was driving led me to a Lake and kept insisting that i drive through it. (On the Nav Screen there was a Road and Fields all Around) In the WindScreen there was a Huge Lake As Far As The Eye Can See Ahead Of Me.

luvmybmr
If i am informed correctly Area51 is not listed on any maps or charts so i guess Sat Nav Systems would not know anything about it or be able to Avoid It.
