Just because Lexus hasn't gotten to the point where they can develop cars such as the Mini, I don't think you should discount BMW for having success in that area.

That's right Xero, separate brands mean we NEVER count MINI in the comparison. Lexus beat BMW again.

Although I am impressed with BMW's increase. I guess July 06 was a really bad month for them, because you would expect that a 21% increase would have been enough to overtake Lexus. Guess not....

This is so incredibly stupid. It makes me laugh to watch you guys struggle. Both sides! Who cares who SOLD the most? It's about the cars, not the sales!

It's ok, S4, Audis will sell in the US someday, if people ever give up on the "soul" and "magic feel" of BMWs.

But how many of those Lexus sales come from prospective BMW/MB customers who are afraid of expensive mechanical problems and want a better deal? BMW sells because people want what they are selling. Lexus sells because people want what BMW & MB is selling at a discount.

So really it should be between BMW and Toyota not Lexus. Anyway it's a sily comparison.

Lexus and BMW lovers have at it why? The buyers of these two brands look at driving as different as a race car to a limo. BMW goes after the driving experience, a test drive usually has the driver wanting to drive the machine more and for the most part that is all it takes they are sold quickly.
The Lexus buyer looks for a complete status in name, fewer repairs and a softer ride. They couldn't care less if the Lexus is the altimate driving machine, but the BMW buyer does in spades.
I would think you Lexus people should be asking will we you be king of the luxury market world wide and BMW lovers asking who really has a car that feels like it is driving itself on the world stage. These two MFG are as different as one can be, so the banter back and forth is crazy really these two companies really have nothing in common?

On the 5th of each month the SMMT releases figures by brand for the UK (ie all brands on sale in UK), I try to put them up, but it s difficult, and tends to be swamped by other articles.

I suspect that BMW's accountants made some mistakes on the numbers or their last July sales was bad. ^0^

for the inept, this is a great day for BMW. Last year at this time, the X5 was being phased out, there were not any M3's being produced, the 3-series coupe and conv was being phased out due to a new model. That is why the huge increase in BMW sales this month. With that said that is a monster number to put up ....
