BMW M3 Sedan photo leaked
The Spies over at E90post.com just floated this official BMW brochure photo onto the net before the official introduction of the M3 Sedan.

Will this new M3 sedan squash demand for the Audi S4 and RS4?

Don't forget, the SEMA auto show is right around the corner!

I really doubt it will "squash demand". But now that they will be direct competitors it should be interesting. Looking forward to seeing the next gen RS4.

Actually, Mr. Nicad, it's the IS-F which is going to get the black eye here...

Lexus has been chewing on M-B's ideas for quite some time now.

Now they're trying to take a bite out of BMW.

But mostly, Lexus just sucks.

IS-F is going to see only the taillights of the M3(in both coupe and sedan form). I can see the little Japanese engineers crying like babies when the IS-F will be humiliated in every single comparison against the three big boys M3, C63 AMG and RS4.

"don't worry guys, i'm sure the germans will copy the 8 speed transmission even faster then they'll copy the hybrid technology"

The thing is, nobody "copies" putting an extra cog on an automatic transmission. It's simply a natural progression. After the first four-speed auto came out, everyone had one. The same is true of five- and six-speeds. However, many brands feel that six speeds is more than enough- because it is. Seven or eight is unnecessary and not very advantageous when you consider how Audi, BMW and Porsche are all going to have DSG in all of their cars in the near future- much better than an eight-speed.

I'm not saying they should dominate, but this is their 6th year. I mean, it's pretty bad when Ralf "Halfie" Shumacher is quitting the team.

Nicad-No one has ever dominated Formula 1 after being in it for only 5 years.

Yes they have Ferrari did it after only three years in the series. Williams did it in four.

Wow, Nicad. Can anyone get any dumber?

Mercedes-Benz has DOMINATED F1 ever since they entered it in the early 1900s (as both Benz & Cie. / Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft) all the way until the eve of World War II. After the Second World War, Mercedes cars again were a force to be reckoned with until they pulled out in the late 1950s or early 1960s.

Face it. Toyota simply blows in F1. A lot of money doesn't automatically equate a winning team. Toyota had the good drivers, but their cars sucked. Yes, you read that right. Their F1 cars simply sucked.

The M3 sedan looks AMAZING! I personally prefer it the styling of the sedan over the more feminine lines of the coupe.

Amazing press? Maybe on Autospies...I haven't heard anything about the IS-F anywhere else. And what did you say about the looks? The IS-F looks better? LOL.

The M3 looks like what is supposed to be a refined sport luxury sedan...the IS-F looks like is trying to compete with Mitsubishi and Subaru for the "trashiest" look or win the top spot in "pimp my ride". That cheap body kit, the horrific exhaust pipes and the interior that is puke inducing put the IS-F on par with cars like Dodge SRT-4.

^And 001, no, it won't "squash demand." The RS4 is an amazing car. Strangely, you didn't mention it squashing demand of the IS-F or C63 AMG. Why is that?

rg12345rg12345 - 10/5/2007 3:22:06 PM

001 is biased toward bmw, we already know that, but at least he did us a favor and put the S4/RS4 as the main competitors for the M3 sedan. The new M3 looks nice, now we just need a C63<>M3<>RS4 comparison. Maybe Real one, same driver, same conditions, same track, real cars (please bmw don't come with upgraded brakes&tires only for the test, pls!).

Don't worry 001, I will never buy an M3, I am waiting for the B8 RS4 as my next sedan. Definitely.

Because one of the key reasons the S4 took off on the sales charts was because the last generation M3 was not offered with four doors.

So my question is how many of those people wanted 4 door M3's but went with the only choice...the S4 sedan?

But you are also right...how will it effect the others like the IS-F and C63?

001

no offense to 001 or 009, but since I joined this website I really hate Lexus, had no issues with them before; but after so much bias and sh.. going on from their side, it's just crazy I can even think straight about them. Just give me some lexus fans at the picnic, I will make some burgers from their dorsal part and make them eat those yami burgers.

I think is mainly the Agents fault for all this stupid talk, we really need some decent moderators that actually care about discussions and people not about their website generating web flow.

indeed it does look worse than the IS-F, for at least the IS-F is free flowing thru-out. this is pretty much a dent of the i/m for clearance!

the car itself is still good looking except for that minor aspect.

Mr Nicad: By saying "If Toyota wants something" You mean that They don´t want to be Formula One Champions? ´cause they are not trying hard enough? They have been spending hundreds of millions of Dollars every year to place far behind? Wake up! That´s incompetence! While BMW in It´s first year as a Team is already among the three top teams! Now that´s COMPETENCE!

that... looks... AWESOME. Glad to see BMW is finally offering the M3 sedan again, and it's amazing how something as small as changing the shape of the headlights can make such a dramatic difference in the appearance of the sedan. Soooo much better than the regular E90 sedan (and I have one those -- it looks so plain from the front). This looks perfect, nice and menacing.

Totally agree.....AWESOME!!! The coupe headlights really look great on the sedan. I hope the E90 refresh includes these on all 3 sedans.

Dont know about anyone else, but Im already excited at what the E92 coupe refresh is going to look like. Should happen right when my current lease is up in May 2010.

Really proud being a BMW owner these days, their cars are nothing short of amazing.

Chip,
I'm totally with you. The coupe headlights do look very nice. I think I might just have to get one.

Coincidentally, although i financed my car, I'm also supposed to end my term in May 201 Will I see you at the dealership? Want to carpool?

BMW, please offer Silverstone metallic. I might just have to get something other than Black Sapphire.

Mineral Silver Metallic looks even better- check that color. It's available on the new 2008 6 Series.

I would be surprised if they didn't over Silverstone on the new M3s, though, because it's one of M's signature colors.

I will interested to see a comparison between the "M's" one real competitor; the Audi RS4. Yes there is the MB and the Lexus, but neither offer a manual transmission. Leaving the true drivers car battle; Audi -vs- BMW.

It's interesting reading the threads from where the article came from.
People complaining about the bad quality of the 335 sure kicks-up a storm.
I like the looks of the M3 sedan.
