It is has been confirmed that BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen will not have a major participation at the Tokyo Motor Show this year. This will have huge impact on the show considering that the US Big Three has earlier confirmed that they will not be joining the show themselves. In the 2007 show the German automakers came up with some remarkable cars which included the VW Space Up! and BMW Concept 1-Series tii.

Porsche and Ferrari are the only non-Japanese car brands who have confirmed will be joining the show. JAMA, the organizer of the show, reported that there will be 122 companies will showcase their products, which is a reduction from the 241 companies for the 2007 show. Because of the pullouts from the show, it has been reduced from the original 17 days in 2007 to only 13 this year.
